A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

Aroma: Almost reminds me of a Schwarzbier; chocolate is subdued and a dry roast pervades; some solid herbal/floral hop presence in tow; not even a suggestion of sweetness. Appearance: Solid black pour with a big, sticky mocha head that settles into a sticky crown. Flavor: Starts off light enough with a touch of chocolate; roast is ever present but not dominant until towards the finish, where it leads a bit of a crescendo; lingering bitterness is low but present. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: A pretty nice porter; wouldn’t know there were oats involved without being informed.

A well-balanced porter; of all the porters I've sampled, this one has the most enjoyable and distinctive presence of subtle hops both in the aroma and the taste. Has a standard black appearance, aroma is consistent and anticipates the flavor well. The flavor is balanced and complex with roasty malts, chocolate and coffee malty accents, and also a mildly bitter hoppy finish. I can't discern which specific hops but the flavor is definitely there. Medium-bodied, finishes a little oily. Exceptionally good overall, and is a bargain buy in the southeast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

12 oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a small light tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and toasted malts. Taste is pretty much the same as aroma. Big roasty malt finish. Medium body, slightly chewy texture, average carbonation. Somewhat long finish. Almost stout-like, but a bit thinner and easier to drink. Very good!
