COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

On tap quart for Liquor Express. Pours rich dark brown with tan head. Head disappears quickly. Little lacing. Chocolatey sweet malt at the start. I can taste the williamete hops on the finish. Nice mouth feel. I would drink this one again.

Westmeister’s Birthday Beer Tasting Extravaganza Beer #8. In my notes I simply wrote "Nondescript Porter." Therefore, pours black with tan head, roasted coffee scent and taste, slighly viscous mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, but nothing special either. Bottle - Westmeister’s House - Cumming, GA

12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a mahogany brown color with a half inch tan head that stayed around for a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The aroma is nice and sweet, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, oatmeal, and a bit of dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also some coffee and some bitter hops in there too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s well carbonated and enjoyable to drink. I thought this was a good brew, I’d buy it again. $1.99 for a single bottle.

Bottle. Poured a perfect dark brown color with a tan head and amazing lacing. Taste of roasted and toasted malts, oats, cocoa malts, malt heaven. High fizzy carb, medium body. Could drink this all day!

P: Pours a carbonated opaque dark mahogany with a fast fading tan head. Marshy air bubbles are left behind on the glass edge. S: Aroma is sour dough, smelly sneakers, roasted oatmeal, figs, sugar sprinkled prunes, brown sugar, cumin and salted crackers. T/M: Bitter prunes, molasses covered oats, burnt brown sugar/caramel and finishes dry with stale coffee and dark chocolate. Carbonation is quite assertive in the medium body. O: The first time I had this on tap I really enjoyed it and wanted to try but again. It’s just as good as the first time. Really great roasty malt with sugar and bitterness to round out a nice oatmeal porter. This is my first oatmeal porter but I’m eager to enjoy more. Cheers!

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2013 Aromas of black earth, dark chocolate, roasted grain, and some floral hops. Almost black with dark ruby highlights, head is rocky and khaki-colored, and almost fully lasting. Dry, roasty, with notes of dark chocolate and fresh coffee beans, and well balanced by earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, smooth, with average carbonation and a roasty, earthy finish.

The aroma is very faint. The malts are a bit too bitter for me, sour almost. I am a big fan of oatmeal stouts and smokey porters. Unfortunately this didn't taste like it met either of those. I couldn't taste the chocolate flavors described and the hops seem to be lost in the sourness. Perhaps this is better when it is fresher, or on tap... I had a bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Clear dark brown color. Good thin off-white head. Good lace. Nice smooth lighter carbonation. Satisfyingly big body, especially for a porter of this ABV, it’s got a nice texture. Not so thick as to be in stout-town, but satisfyingly thick. No lingering viscosity, though. Nice aroma... Solid amount of oatmeal, some light chocolate... Good sweetness, but not at all cloying. Solid bitterness. This is a fine oatmeal porter. Better than expected.
