COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

Black with a medium tan head. Nose and taste overwhelmed with chocolate. Very full in the mouth, silky, goes down smooth. Tastes cold.

Bottle. Dark chocolate and molasses malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Strong chocolate malt flavor with a slight burnt grain and hops finish. Nice full palate which is closer to a stout in mouthfeel. A great porter.

Very dark body with a pleasant smell. Taste of oatmeal very present with slight roasted flavors following. The end was slightly hoppy, almost balanced. Wonderful beer, but I think it needed to be a bit more roasted and chocolatey to be called a porter. It didn’t contain a bite like a stout would either. It was very smooth... not sure what to call it except good!

This is another good porter. A very dark black pour with just to right amount of chocolate flavor and malt. With Yazoo no longer making their porter at this time, Highland will be taking its place in the meantime.

A very good porter. When Highland sticks to the basics and can do no wrong. This beer is ok in a bottle but is amazing on tap.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a very dark ruby with a thick 1 finger tan head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Smells of coffee and some dark chocolate. Definitely a roasted malt presence. The taste carries over some of these dark chocolate notes along with a sweet taste. The roasted malt comes in later and the beer finishes with a nice bitterness. Slightly smoky as well. Mouthfeel is decent. Slightly sticky. Overall this is a pretty good beer and one that should definitely be picked up where available.

Purchased at World Market, Winston-Salem, NC Pour was good for style; no real smell. Delicious porter!

Pours a dark brown with beautiful ruby highlights when held to light. Smallish off white head dissipates quickly. Smells of chocolate, roast, citrus hops, and licorice, mmm. Taste is chocolate up front, some dark fruit and licorice midway melding into a citrusy roasty finish. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, light carbonation and medium body. Great drinkable porter here! If these were more available to me I would buy them all the time.

On draft at brewery. Smoky, spicy, very much like a brown ale. Typically, I don’t like porters, but this one is damn tasty. Enjoyability 3.5/5.
