COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2011 Bottle. Poured dark brown with a slight red tint and had a creamy light brown head that lasted throughout and had excellent lacing. The aroma was robust with roasted chocolate malts, a sweet yeast and had notes of dark chocolate, oats and coffee. It tasted mildly sweet with a nice coffee note at the start and ended with a sweet-bitter chocolate flavor that had a mild coffee undertone and just a hint of hoppiness that stayed with you for a nice while. Mouthfeel was medium to full in body and creamy in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall a extremely good tasting Porter.

Nothing but hops. All I taste. Awful beer. Hops are so strong you cannot taste anything else.

Pours a dark brown with a thin white lacing. Charred, roasted malt aroma. Earthy, roasted malt, peanut, bitterness taste. Good beet

I am a fan of deeper and darker porters. The Oatmeal porter, while good, is missing the deep coffee/chocolate taste of other porter offerings. I consider this offering to almost in essence be a "lite-porter" if you catch my drift

Draft. Pours dark copper brown with a thick, creamy beige head. Tastes like very roasted malt, toast, woody, lightly burnt coffee. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like creamy roasted malt, nutty.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with thick creamy beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, oats, chocolate, light earthiness, and faint plums. Flavor is chocolate forward, light roast, oats, medium bitterness, and faint dark fruit notes; smooth and tasty. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown color with white head. Oatmeal, cocoa, malty aromas and flavors. A touch old, but alright.

Another great oatmeal stout from local highland. Milky flavor and easy to drink. Slight chocolate notes. Pours dark brown in color with a tan had. Had at Carolina ale house in Charlotte ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Slight chocolate aroma with more hops aroma than most porters. Thin mouthfeel but with a nice medium taste. Not to malty or hoppy taste.

12 oz bottle, served in a pint glass. Pours dark brownish black with medium thick creamy mocha head. Aroma is smooth dark roasty malt, light creamy chocolate notes. Taste is crisp super smooth dark chocolate malt, light roasty notes on the finish. Really well balanced. Oatmeal makes this incredibly smooth. One of the better straight porters I’ve had; in the same league as Black Butte, Edmund Fitzgerald, etc. Only shortcoming is perhaps a little light on the hops.

Black pour from 12oz bottle at Edison. White head. Sweet and coffee aroma. Milky and sweet taste. A little bland but very drinkable.
