COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - Winter. Also available bottled.
Appearance: Dark mahogany in colour with ruby highlights.
Nose: A lovely roasted grain aroma and some dark berry fruit.
Palate: After a slight tartness (always a good sign in a porter), coffee and chocolate dominate the palate, with a hint of smoke lending complexity. Nutty bitter chocolate pervades the persistent finish.

Bottle @ THT August, courtesy of me. Pours an inky black beer with a big tanned head on top. Aroma of coffee, roast, molasses, deep licorice and some cookies. Flavor is bittersweet chocolatey, some roasty tartness and a big coffee finish. Nice build up and complexity here, great balance. Sweet finish and a good beer!

Bottle. Gift from TVT. Cheers Tim. Blurb states do not chill. This is cold as you like. Probably 2 degrees. It’s a warm evening, and I’ve just been round the parents for dinner. I need a cold, big boost beer! Clear, ruby red. Messy, sticky, tan head. Coffee. Chocolate. Light char. Lactic sweetness. Hazelnuts. Vine fruits. The full kit. Smells fantastic. Taste is vinous dry. Rich sweetness. Palate is smooth, slightly boozy and fruity chewy. Very drinkable. The ABV is present, but doesn’t dominate. More chocolatey vine fruit on the finish. Cut to the chase. This is lovely.

Pours a thick black with little head. Aroma is quite complex: Molasses, liquorice, alcohol, fruit cake. Taste is heavily roasted malts, raisin, figs with noticeable sweetness which is not out of balance. Surprising is that the 9%ABV is not all that noticeable in the flavour or finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with ruby reflexes, white small head. Aroma is chocolate, a lot of dried fruits, some roastiness - very nice porter aroma. In taste flavours similar to aroma, no big roastiness, the beer is medium sweet. Olily texture, the beer is full bodied with medium bitter finish, no alcohol in taste or aroma. Very good and balanced strong porter.

Bottle Vintage 2010 (Aged). Lightly chilled. Very deep reddish brown body with a small tan head. High intensity aromas of rich roasted grains, almonds, bananas and some doughy yeast. Surprising tartness that wonderfully cuts through the sweet malty character. Light smoke. Full body - the only real indication of strength - with a thick, oily texture. Low-moderate carbonation and a persistent, long, liquorice finish. Outstanding porter which seemingly benefits from aging. Tremendously balanced and ideal abv. Perhaps lacks a little on the nose, but it’s hard to pick a fault with the taste and palate.

Dark one with acreamy stable beige head. Sourish fruity character dominates the aroma with a bit of roasted grains, molasses. Medium body, a bit easier than expected. Fruity and roasty flavor with molasses, cherries.

Light sweet, medium to heavy roasty bitter, alcohol is present. Full body, dry texture, no carbonation. Not too easy, good dessert beer.
