COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We are proud to present homebrewer Aaron Schenk’s Cream Ale as Best of Show in the first annual Highland Cup held earlier this year. Highland will enter this beer in the 2008 Great American Beer Festival’s Pro Am competition held in Octover. This limited edition beer will only be sold in the local Western North Carolina area. This cream ale strikes a perfect balance between the clean profile of American Two Row Barley Malt, the grainy maltiness of German Pilsner Malt, and the crisp bitterness of Mt. Hood hops. A perfect summer beer!

Not a very common style for me but I found this one refreshing and tasty. May not be all that complex but well balanced and drinkable. On tap at barleys in Asheville. Poured a slightly clear yellow color with a white head. Flavor was light bread and wheat. The German pilsner malt was pretty apparent but well done.

Bottle from ROBORB in trade. Thanks man. Pours golden with a short lived white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Smell is light grassy hops and subtle sweet malt. Taste is smooth and creamy with a balanced light sweetness with just a twinge of hop bitterness to balance. Overally, very creamy mouthfeel for a lighter feeling beer and soft to medium carbonation. Very drinkable and non offensive.

Damn if I really know much about this style, but this was pretty good. Certainly very light and not amazingly flavorful, but this seems meant to be an easy-drinking summer beer, and I could see myself drinking many of these. My pour was draft at Brewgrass. Clear gold with white head. Very mild. Some corn/grain. Minor hop presence. Not an overly crisp finish, but pleasant. Solid.

Bottle shared by Butters. Poured golden with a white head that settles but renews with a twirl of the glass. Aromas and flavor of corn and malt with a light hop background. Light body and sweet.

Clear fizzy yellow beer. Aroma is sweet and malty with a hint of apple and honey. Very sweet with just a touch of bitterness at the finish. Very plain.

12oz bottle thanks to Book m Dano. Lightly hazy onion skin colored pour with a light head. Musty aroma that is kind of like fresh top soil. The flavor is grain. Just smooth grain like flavors with a touch of earth. Drinkable for sure, just not particularly interesting. Fairly smooth medium body.

This was disgusting. Hard to believe this won best of show. Pours out a golden yellow color with a white head. flavor had some grain and corn to it. Aroma was not really present. I didnt really care of this beer at all.

Bottle from Bruisin’. Moderately hazy, fairly thin golden color with a foamy white head. Mild grainy flavor and nose, a little corn and malt, almost no hops. Easy drinkin’. Would work as a gateway for new craft beer drinkers or as a summer refresher, but not much more.

Bomber pours a mostly clear pale yellow body with small white head. Faint aroma has a hint of pears. Lots of corn syrup sweetness with some earthy hop bitterness. Slight metallic note. Forgettable.

pours a clear gold with fluffy white head. light crisp sweet aroma, smooth palate with dry finish, refreshing qualities of the cream ale, sweet millde and creamy background. light and sessionable, but a good quality palate, It is a ceam ale so complexity is light, but a good cream ale it is. the beer is good for its style.
