CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 10, 2008 Pours a transparent copper orange with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of earthy, damp, slightly peaty malty notes with a touch of German lager yeast. Body starts fairly full and dark caramely malty sweet with a touch of toasty character and a mildly bready bittersweet finish. An interesting and pretty drinkable heller bock. beerguy101 (3468), Newark, California, USA Jun 12, 2008 This Heller Bock pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and sweet, touch of floral hops. A medium bodied Heller Bock. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. It seems a little hoppy for a heller. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. The_Beer_God (2827), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 22, 2008 Bottle. Copper pour. Small white ring of foam around the glass. Aroma is nutty, malty with earthy hops, light cocoa, and caramel. taste is spicy and earthy hops, nutty malts, caramel, light toffee, and some light grainy flavors. Body is medium but chewy with a strong carbonation bubbliness to it. More spicy and earthy hops throughout the finish. Lots of nutty malts, toasted malts, caramel, toffee and whole grains. Some dark bread as well. Not bad. General_Gao (2434), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 26, 2008 12oz bottle from nearbeer. Thanks. The aroma was of hay, a dash of brown sugar, toffee, and subdued noble hops. Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was short, white, and reduced quickly to a thin film. Some tattered lace was left behind. Medium bodied and delicately sweet. Spicy, earthy malts dominated the flavor; akin to a mix of fall leaves, toffee, and molasses. Some fleshy and dark fruit flavors emerged at the end. Not bad. Good spring beer.
