Cask, Helgi’s. Near black. Thin head. Aroma is pure chocolate. Soft and sweet, like a very chocolatey dark mild, with only a hint if roasty acidity. Very quaffable.

Cask at Hanging Bat. Pours dark brown with a good tan head. Roasted aromas, faint liquorice, light chocolate. Very smooth and creamy with more chocolate and roasted/ashy notes coming through. Lovely.

Cask at Bow Bar, Edinburgh. Pours a dark red brown with a slightly off white head. Light licorice, treacle malt loaf aroma. Medium body. Rich, toasty, a bit smoky with a hint of whisky, some coffee. Decent.

Cask at Cloisters. Pours deepest Brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. A nice thick stout with amble stouty flavours. Roasty maly and more caramel sweetness. Light charred bitterness to finish. These boys know how to make a dark beer.

Cask (gravity) @ The 18th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2012, Reading, Berkshire England.
Clear dark black brown colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing to lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted, light tar - ash. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, dark roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Cask, Bodega, Newcastle. Black looks with a wee tan head . Nose had notes of choc, roast and hop . Flavour was on similar lines and had some robust dark malts leading to some hop bitterness towards the finish. Hard to fault. Tasty stuff.
