Gravity dispense at the 15th Kingston BF, 16/05/14. Black with a moderate tan head formed of bubbles. Nose is dark maltings, light hoppy pangs, puff of smoke, liqourice, dark toffee. Taste comprises dark malts, liqourice, red berry fruit, cocoa powder, light roast tones, subtle hop presence. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent stout.

Cask, Helgi’s. Near black. Thin head. Aroma is pure chocolate. Soft and sweet, like a very chocolatey dark mild, with only a hint if roasty acidity. Very quaffable.

Cask at Hanging Bat. Pours dark brown with a good tan head. Roasted aromas, faint liquorice, light chocolate. Very smooth and creamy with more chocolate and roasted/ashy notes coming through. Lovely.

Cask at Cloisters. Pours deepest Brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. A nice thick stout with amble stouty flavours. Roasty maly and more caramel sweetness. Light charred bitterness to finish. These boys know how to make a dark beer.

Clear dark black brown colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing to lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, dark roasted, light tar - ash. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, dark roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120504]
