Apple juice color, medium carbonation with white bubbly head. Aroma is apple and wood chips. Starts apple juice (almost cider) into slight bitter from start to middle of light wood hops. Sweet apple end. Aftertaste lingering wood chips gentle bitter hops. Very drinkable if on the sweet side.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice and crisp on the palate, but lacking some of the complex character of other pales, this is nonetheless a nice, subtly citrusy ale

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very drinkable. Good malt backbone that supports the firm hop flavor well. Finishes clean and refreshing. I’d order a second.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear golden yellow with a minimal white head. Faint hops in the nose but rather weak. The taste is pretty bland for an APA, nothing offensive, but nothing really worth noting. Decent offering and these seem like a pretty good session brew, but it’s not the best from Highland.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint pour of deep gold not quite copper ale with full finger white head. Nose is a moderate mix of hops and malt, not quite over powering or fantastic. Flavor is also in the middle of the road and not overwhelming. Slightly hoppier than malt on the mouth, but meh. Lighter body with good lacing. Not bad, and sessionable, but not fantastic.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From bottle. Pours a golden color with small white head. Aroma sweet and fruity. Taste was typical of an APA, but well balanced and toned down.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle dated 9/7/10 (production date?) served in Highland pint glass in Feb. 2011. Tiny bit of sediment added mid-taste. Pours golden with a thin white head.
Aroma of fresh citrus hops; sweet malt in the background. Tastes less hoppy than expected, given aroma, but appropriate for style. Somewhat sweet for style but has a dry finish with a nice citrus hop flavor. I’d prefer something bolder and more complex, but that’s why they make IPAs, etc.
Feels very smooth but a bit thin; light-to-moderate carbonation.
O: Delicate but fine taste, with no off-flavors and good carbonation -- this beer goes down quick and easy.

Not a bad pale ale, but not top notch. I like the brewery, but this pale ale is too pale for me and not hoppy enough.
