| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Poured a dark ruby-brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is a nice blend of malt, toffee, and some peat. Palate isn’t thick or overbearing. Taste is sweet without being cloying or feeling underattenuated. Finish has a subtle hop and roasted malt finish that is a nice touch. Very well done. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2006 Malt forward aroma has plenty of toffee and caramel and some nutty marzipan. Darkest brown body is almost opaque. Low tan head recedes to ring with very sparse, sudsy lace. Chocolate, caramel and toffee flavours blend nicely. Hop character is rather subdued. Some hints of alcohol. Mild warming. Dry medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle sampled with CapFlu and Oakes. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2006 On tap at Barleys, Asheville, July 2006. Very deep red colour. Rich and full and a little bit viscous. Lots of deep malt and toffee in the flavour. Sweetish, but with some hops fighting through, but not with, the malt. Quite smooth and easy drinking for its strength. Not one of my favourite styles but I’d drink this one again.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Deep ruby color with a thick foamy biege head. Dried fruit and roast grain nose. Sweet beer with some molasses, brown sugar, chocolate and roasted grain. Some grassy hops to add balance. This is a malt dominated beer. I don’t prefer Scotch ales, but this is better than most. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
