| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2006 Dark brown with mahogany edges. Huge beige head. Up front all kinds of malt. Arom consists of smoky sweet malt, chocolate, fig, prune, faint hop detectable in background. Flavor all over the place. Smoky, caramel, roasted grain, prunes, dry oats, very faint alcohol. Mouthfeel is borderline 5 but appears a tad thin at times. Hard to bump individual scores up but, without question the best scotch ale I have ever had. jerc (3911), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Ɠ+) Sweetish aroma, touch of peat, malt. Ɨ+) Sweet malt, mild sugars, touch of peat again. Ɨ+) Smooth average to medium palate. Decent well executed Scotch ale, the peat while restrained is just enough to diminish my enjoyment of it. Still quite good. 8/3+/7/3/15-16 Bottle shared by Jon Walker
June 2006. Dark brown body, small tan head. Ɠ+) Malty, earthy aroma, very light anise notes. Similar flavour with lots of earthy malt, caramel and very light hints of licorice. Medium palate. Ɠ+) Quite nice. A very nice Scotch ale. 7/4/8/4/16 - 3.9 HogTownHarry (4002), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 23, 2006 Bottle 黊ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev - blankboy’s bottle. Poured deep clear ruby with a decent creamy tan head. Aroma - malty! - lightly roast malt, lactose, very mild slightly funky hops, chocolate, oats and a hint of fresh peat. Lord this is tasty - huge malt character, almost burnt, oats, some alcohol, more bitter hops than the nose indicated, stewed prunes and chocolate on warming, a lovely, long complex malty finish. Thick creamy body, left me wanting more: terrific scotch ale. redlight (1463), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Pours a dark brown with a nice dark tan head. An aroma of malt, chocolate and light alcohol. A good flavor of sweet malt and light alcohol. An excellent thick mouth feel. I drank this beer at about 55 degress it was excellent. Delirium (497), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with dark brown around the edges, and a moderate tan head. Aroma is of semi-sweet chocolate, dark fruit, and a hint of nuttiness. Flavor is sweet but not overly so, with dark fruits, semisweet chocolate, a bit of caramel, a hint of breadiness, and numerous other flavors that are hard to isolate. Finishes dry, a bit astringent, and pleasantly fruity. Very well done; complex and excellently blended. timtheenchanta (70), Clemson, South Carolina, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Good brown color with an oddly bleach white head. Tons of lacing. Slightly smokey with caramelly and chocolate malt smell to it. Hint of bready malt. Sweet dark fruity start. Roasted Starbucks coffee taste follows. Sweet caramel malt blesses the mouth as this beer finishes strong and dry with mostly the caramel taste coming back. The alcohol is extremely well hidden. This is a great beer that I plan on having again.
