Commercial Description:
Our Scotch-style ale, named from Norse mythology, combines the heritage and tartan of our brew team. The roasted barley and chocolate malt lend a bold flavor to this delicious dark beer. Its increased hop level is a modest departure from a true Scotch-style ale. We hope you agree this is a beer worthy of the name Tasgall, "Cauldron of the Gods."

Bottle. [thank you, SecretSanta]
Pours deep red mahogany with a small deep beige-yellow head. Super lacing. Okay duration. Aroma is vinious, lots of caramel and a good dose of fruity hops. Great, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, lots of caramel, toffee, lightly roasted, a touch (and just the right touch) of peity smoke. Great brew!

22 fl oz bottle, thanks to thewolf. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a tan head. Fruity hops and light liqourice note in the aroma. Flavour starts sweet and soon shows a solid caramel malt base before the hops kick in and give a light spiced liqourice fruity flavour. Medium malty sweet and light hoppy finish with a medium dryness.

22-oz bottle received via trade with elmatador00; thanks James. Pours dark brown with a small, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), light hops (pine), average yeast (leather) with notes of dates and apple. Medium bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with some edgy tan froth. Nose is grapes and peat with mild molasses and mocha. Medium light with a tang. Taste is smoky raisin, prunes and tobacco. Mostly sweet with light bitterness; some metallic aftertaste.

bottle courtesy of emacgee. Thanks!
Pours a rich murky brown with a light short lived tan head. Smell is lightly of peaty smoky malt. Taste is actually lightly hoppy to accompany the peaty quality and has a roasty, cocoa like quality to it as well. Not my style of beer at all, but this wasn’t bad.

Poured into a pint glass with a nice, tan 1.5 finger head. Dark and cloudy but amber when held up to the light. Good, smoky aroma. Malty taste, with a touch of hops on the finish. Sweet, good body, with a smoky peat finish (thought not as smoky as some other Scotchies that I’ve had... Robert the Bruce, Dirty Bastard). Alcohol is not really noticible for an 8%’er. A really enjoyable brew, wish I had some haggis to pair it with.

Opaque brown in color with a half-inch tan head. Very interesting aroma, evenly balanced between rich malt and citric hop. The flavor is very rich: malty with a hop bite, again very well balanced, with a peat character. Sweet with a nice crisp bitterness and just a touch of smoke. medium bodied with a slightly grainy finish. This is excellent. Possibly the best scotch ale I’ve had.
