This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NCís Dynamite Roasting Co.

Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head, leaving very little lace. Aroma has coffee .... and coffee. Wow, like cold coffee to the nose, with some caramel underneath. Coffee fan, so that was terrific. Taste is of coffee, and sweet caramel, and some chocolate. Fairly thin Light to medium bodied. First half glass was cellar temperature and the refrigerator temp was far superior. Finishes coffee bitter with some sweetness, and perhaps a bit short. Enjoyably tasty, very coffee porter, just somewhat thin. Rating - due to the 5 compartments - probably higher than where this should be. Aroma WAS very nice. Taste WAS thin, but tasty enough. Finished nicely bittersweet. Add some depth and to a coffee-enjoyer, this would be easily 4+ total. Very nice smell and good flavors.

Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a dark reddish-tan head. Coffee on milk chocolate aromas. A little thin for the style. Micropinching carbonation scrub starting midway. Smoky olive, fruity, coffee, and faint dark chocolate flavors. Pretty acidic.

Pours dark brown with a good sized, creamy head. Strong aromas of coffee and chocolate. Bitter chocolate flavor works well with the roasted malts, making a solid porter.

12oz bottle from Lowes in Hickory. Blackish pour with a tan head and tight sheets of lacing. Aroma is pleasant roasted coffee and chocolate. Tastes follow suit with cocoa bitter, earthy, little vanilla. Sharp, slightly tinny texture. 7.2

12oz bottle pours a watery black with some thin, creamy off white head. Nose is very nutty, coffee grounds, mocha, bread crust, some raisin, cola. Flavor has lots of soured coffee, sweet malt, cracker, toast, a little toasted almond. Watery finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Light coffee aroma with roasted malt and chocolate. Thick, roasted coffee taste with some chocolate in the background. Pretty solid brew. Always been a fan of Highland.

Barely translucent dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of coffee grounds and piney hops. Taste is dry, with a bitter hop and coffee grounds finish. Just not into coffee-grindy coffee beers.

Early Christmas present from a friend. Dark brown with a tan head. Smokey,Roasted malt aroma with coffee and vanilla and coffee notes and some pine from hops. Creamy feel in mouth. Sweet vanilla caramel start. Then a roasted malt and dark coffee flavor finish. One of the best names for a beer Iíve seen

Predominately coffee aroma enhanced by the hints of earthy hops. Deeply black color capped by a moderate nutmeg head. Smooth coffee up front chased by mild chocolate with a nice roastiness on the finish. Decadent enough to serve with a warm chocolate desert. GREAT BEER !
