3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
From site: This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NC’s Dynamite Roasting Co

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Mellow, yet pervasive coffee profile in the nose, a little fudge, slight earth. Appearance: Dark garnet black pour with a foamy mocha head that settles into a skin. Flavor: Coffee up front, and mostly prevalent throughout; some hints of chocolate and an earthy aftertaste. Coffee shows off a little blueberry and cream as it warms. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: Standout coffee flavor here, but I would personally like a bit more porter character.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of coffee, bakers cocoa, roasted malt and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, earthiness and light cocoa with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish.

12 oz bottle, poured into a snifter at room temperature.
A: Pours a seemingly black hole singularity black, but upon shining a light through the beer, tiny highlights of pure red make it through. Forms a finger-thick head of very pale tan, which dissipates quickly into a ring.
S: Thatís definitely a coffee porter smell. What seems to be a medium-roast coffee odor mingles with some earthy peat and faint chocolatey notes.
T: Medium roast coffee does indeed meet earthy peat in this action-packed thriller starring mostly medium roast coffee and earthy peat. While the flavors arenít bad, the flavor profile is rather simple.
M: Creamy and full, avoiding the watery finish that plagues many a porter.
O: Not a bad porter. Not particularly complex, but solid for what is there.

On draft at Cherokee. It pours dark amber with a bit of lacing. It seemed to have a bit more carbonation to it. It has chocolate in the aroma with other roasted bits.

Pitch black pour little bit of an orange hue with a thin off white head .... Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, mostly bitter dark roasted coffee, caramel malts ... Taste of dark bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel malts and bitter hops .... Has a nice bitter hoppy bite on the backend very well represented on the roasted side thatís for sure .... Finish is dry and bitter ... Body is thin but this is definitely a nice coffee porter

Bottle pour opaque dark brown with moderate tan head. Nose lots of coffee, roasted malt, but a slightly odd earthy undertone. Taste mostly coffee then dark roast, hint of dark fruit. Light bitterness.

First, a big thanks to Louis for sending me this beauty. A stunning beer from beginning to end. Iíve had a few of their beers and their Mocha Stout had been my favorite, but this is now king of the hill. It pours out a dark brown/black body with a thick, creamy medium/dark tan head. Long lasting throughout the glass. It doesnít get much better than that. Aroma is chock full of coffee/chicory goodness. You could say thatís itís one dimensional but itís a great dimension...lol. The flavor opens up a little more and has a little more depth than the flavor, and coming to the porter party is coffeeís good friend chocolate. I donít know if itís just me, but I also got some chocolate chip cookie in this beer...crazy. Mouthfeel is spot on, silky smooth..full and round and it really helps support the flavors crashing around on the palate. I couldnít have been more happier with this product and those in the south should celebrate this beer whenever possible. It reminds me in many ways of Meantimeís coffee porter or Midnight Sunís coffee porter, but this is better than those two I think.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle, served in a pint glass. Pours dark inky brownish black with medium thin lacy mocha head. Aroma is big fresh coffee and dark roasty chocolate malts. Taste is rich, very dark chocolate malt... nice charred notes without tasting burnt. Coffee flavors are there, but less so than the aroma and are dominated by the heavy roasty flavory. Tough to pick between this and the Oatmeal Porter... the coffee flavor here is a wonderful match for the dark chocolate malt notes, though it lacks the overall smoothness the Oatmeal Porter has. Maybe a hair shy of the Oatmeal, but this is very nice.

Crazy Expresso taste. Coffee beans and water. Black pour with white head. Sampler draft at bier garden in Asheville. Almost too much coffee going here but still enjoyable.
