COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NC’s Dynamite Roasting Co.

Bottle. Black colored pour with a tan head. Smell is huge on coffee and malts, little bit of chocolate and hops present too. Taste is bitter and like drinking coffee. After the initial shock it gets pretty smooth. Good beer, I buy it occasionally.

Pours an opaque black into the glass, with a hint of mahogany to the fringes. The head is tan and substantial, leaving spiderweb lacing. The nose is of deep coffee roasted aromas. Flavors are dry, of freshly brewed roasted dark coffee beans, with roasted smoky bitters adding a slight acrid acidity to the finish. This occurs by entering a light Sanka instant coffee into the mix. With a slick mouthfeel and substantive body, the bean grounds seem to age quickly at the back end of the palate. This coffee offering serves best in the cold months, and is a drier take on the abounding java styles. However, if you’re like my late grandfather, and love this "style" of coffee, it won’t disappoint.

Bottle->tumbler. Deep brown with small offwhite head. Great coffee and malt aroma; taste is coffee with roasted and chocolate malt. Bittersweet coffee aftertaste is quite pleasant. Very good.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a thin tan head. The aroma is fairly subtle and basic; coffee grounds, dark chocolate, and notes of this paper bag smell. Flavor is slightly roasty with coffee grounds dominating the taste. Nothing bold or creamy though and the body is a touch thin. Like a basic black cup of coffee. Some dark chocolate again mixes in here, with perhaps some oats, and caramel too. This finishes a little dry and roasty but also kind of empty. Pretty basic but not bad at all.

Black pour with a small bubbly brown head that fades. Nose is deep roasted malts, tons of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is roast, fresh coffee and some sweet milk chocolate. Finishes a bit dry and bitter. Very nice coffee porter.

Aroma: Mellow, yet pervasive coffee profile in the nose, a little fudge, slight earth. Appearance: Dark garnet black pour with a foamy mocha head that settles into a skin. Flavor: Coffee up front, and mostly prevalent throughout; some hints of chocolate and an earthy aftertaste. Coffee shows off a little blueberry and cream as it warms. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: Standout coffee flavor here, but I would personally like a bit more porter character.

Dark opaque brownish black pour. Small mocha head. Aroma is all coffee with heavy chicory. The porter is mostly coffee, especially espresso with roasted bark. Finish is smooth, slightly bitter and lasting. Quite an easy drinking porter, may have it for breakfast tomorrow. Quaff Score ( drinkability with hearty enjoyment ) 8 / 10

Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head, leaving very little lace. Aroma has coffee .... and coffee. Wow, like cold coffee to the nose, with some caramel underneath. Coffee fan, so that was terrific. Taste is of coffee, and sweet caramel, and some chocolate. Fairly thin Light to medium bodied. First half glass was cellar temperature and the refrigerator temp was far superior. Finishes coffee bitter with some sweetness, and perhaps a bit short. Enjoyably tasty, very coffee porter, just somewhat thin. Rating - due to the 5 compartments - probably higher than where this should be. Aroma WAS very nice. Taste WAS thin, but tasty enough. Finished nicely bittersweet. Add some depth and to a coffee-enjoyer, this would be easily 4+ total. Very nice smell and good flavors.
