3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at Knoxville Brewersí Jam. Pours dark brown with beige head. the aroma is Latin American coffee, ash, some raisin. The flavor is rich with coffee, but the coffee seems to lack freshness. There is also some raisin and ash and a bit of resiny hops.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
There is a medium hit of light and silky coffee on the nose but that is then replaced with pure, straight up milk chocolate. And that flavor dominates the rest of the 12oz. And I mean that in the best possible sense. The coffee flirts underneath and as it warms a bit more coffee ground bitterness does rear its head but primarily this is like hot chocolate and I liked it.

First, a big thanks to Louis for sending me this beauty. A stunning beer from beginning to end. Iíve had a few of their beers and their Mocha Stout had been my favorite, but this is now king of the hill. It pours out a dark brown/black body with a thick, creamy medium/dark tan head. Long lasting throughout the glass. It doesnít get much better than that. Aroma is chock full of coffee/chicory goodness. You could say thatís itís one dimensional but itís a great dimension...lol. The flavor opens up a little more and has a little more depth than the flavor, and coming to the porter party is coffeeís good friend chocolate. I donít know if itís just me, but I also got some chocolate chip cookie in this beer...crazy. Mouthfeel is spot on, silky smooth..full and round and it really helps support the flavors crashing around on the palate. I couldnít have been more happier with this product and those in the south should celebrate this beer whenever possible. It reminds me in many ways of Meantimeís coffee porter or Midnight Sunís coffee porter, but this is better than those two I think.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Stuart. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head, leaving very little lace. Aroma has coffee .... and coffee. Wow, like cold coffee to the nose, with some caramel underneath. Coffee fan, so that was terrific. Taste is of coffee, and sweet caramel, and some chocolate. Fairly thin Light to medium bodied. First half glass was cellar temperature and the refrigerator temp was far superior. Finishes coffee bitter with some sweetness, and perhaps a bit short. Enjoyably tasty, very coffee porter, just somewhat thin. Rating - due to the 5 compartments - probably higher than where this should be. Aroma WAS very nice. Taste WAS thin, but tasty enough. Finished nicely bittersweet. Add some depth and to a coffee-enjoyer, this would be easily 4+ total. Very nice smell and good flavors.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an opaque black into the glass, with a hint of mahogany to the fringes. The head is tan and substantial, leaving spiderweb lacing. The nose is of deep coffee roasted aromas. Flavors are dry, of freshly brewed roasted dark coffee beans, with roasted smoky bitters adding a slight acrid acidity to the finish. This occurs by entering a light Sanka instant coffee into the mix. With a slick mouthfeel and substantive body, the bean grounds seem to age quickly at the back end of the palate. This coffee offering serves best in the cold months, and is a drier take on the abounding java styles. However, if youíre like my late grandfather, and love this "style" of coffee, it wonít disappoint.
