3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Growler. Opaque with a lasting disc of cream. Aroma is all coffee with maybe a hint of piss and dark chocolate. Taste is the same but weaker, like lots of old sourish, weak and cheap coffee, with some sour milk chocolate and dry grass. Light-medium body is watery, well-balanced, and has light-medium carbonation. OK, but disappointing brew, from this normally near-top-notch regional brewer.

Bottle shared at RBWG 2012. Pours a dark brown with a small off white head. The aroma is a strong roast and coffee. Medium mouthfeel with a roadsted coffed with a nice spicey finish. A very good porter from Highland.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small-to-moderate head. Good coffee notes in the nose, though the smell isnít too strong. Great roasting and coffee flavors to this, which manage to be smooth on the palate despite the harsher flavors. Very nice brew.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark beer with almost no head. Nose of green coffee beans and a little play doh. Sweet caramel flavor with some wet toast, roast grains and burnt sweetened coffee. Some celery and green stuff in the finish. The coffee flavor is pretty subtle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours black with a thin khaki head that doesnít leave any lacing. Nice coffee aroma. They did a good job with the roasting. The coffee complements the porter base nicely. Clean finish. Very tasty. I wish I had another bottle of this.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Strong aroma is mainly quality roast coffee and sweet chocolate, like a mocha from a good coffeehouse. It pours a nearly-black opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled, almost Guinness-like tan head that stays around for a bit. Superb flavor is more like coffee than porter - quality coffee, like something from Starbucks or Caribou Coffee, not cheap instant. It also has a subtle malty undertone and a hint of licorice. Sweetness and bitterness balance each other nicely. Texture has plenty of fizz and above-average body. Maybe it wonít leave you thunderstruck, but itís an outstanding brew.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Dark black not much head retention. Aroma is nice amounts of coffee. Light chocolate.
Flavor is bitter coffee bean that just turned. Light caramel and a weak hop in the back ground. Really bitter. Pretty astringent and basic.
