4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (2519) - Georgia, USA - JAN 11, 2012
Strong aroma is mainly quality roast coffee and sweet chocolate, like a mocha from a good coffeehouse. It pours a nearly-black opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled, almost Guinness-like tan head that stays around for a bit. Superb flavor is more like coffee than porter - quality coffee, like something from Starbucks or Caribou Coffee, not cheap instant. It also has a subtle malty undertone and a hint of licorice. Sweetness and bitterness balance each other nicely. Texture has plenty of fizz and above-average body. Maybe it won’t leave you thunderstruck, but it’s an outstanding brew.

Giant head and big coffee aroma. Tons of coffee on the first sip, followed by some nice bitter cocoa. A little too light in body but very nice.

Smells of fresh brewed coffee. Think pour, dark with inch think tan head. Decent lacing. Coffee leads and finishes. If you like coffee stouts, try this one. Very good.

I’m not a real beer snob, though I wish that I were. If I were, I would have much better comments. I just know that I very much enjoyed this beer, and of the "coffee beers" that I’ve had, this one has a much more robust, much more pronounced flavor. I think this beer would be best enjoyed in fall or winter.

Bottle. Pours jet black with an off white head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a well balanced dark malt flavor from start to finish. Just the right amount of carbonation and alcohol.to make this a superb porter. Well done. Would pair well with a frozen desert or ice cream.
