COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust porter has a full body with some hints of chocolate from the chocolate malt and midnight wheat. The mild noble hop aroma showcases the roasty flavors and subtle fruit and spice notes of the artisan-roasted Fair Trade/Organic coffee of Black Mountain, NC’s Dynamite Roasting Co.

Draft pint at Mela Asheville. I think coffee porter is a great concept like a nice expresso. Smooth with a coffee bean bite. One of the better offerings I have had from Highland. Chocolate, coffee, toast, roasty, dough, leather, earthy, butterscotch. Will drink again when available.

Strong coffee flavor with a touch of oats. Has a dark toasted malt bitterness . Hops are there but not dominate. This a fantastic beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from trade. Pours dark as black coffee with a clingy beige head. Aroma of medium roast coffee, spent grains. Flavor is caramel, multigrain bread, good coffee flavor with mild bitterness.

Crazy Expresso taste. Coffee beans and water. Black pour with white head. Sampler draft at bier garden in Asheville. Almost too much coffee going here but still enjoyable.

12 oz bottle, served in a pint glass. Pours dark inky brownish black with medium thin lacy mocha head. Aroma is big fresh coffee and dark roasty chocolate malts. Taste is rich, very dark chocolate malt... nice charred notes without tasting burnt. Coffee flavors are there, but less so than the aroma and are dominated by the heavy roasty flavory. Tough to pick between this and the Oatmeal Porter... the coffee flavor here is a wonderful match for the dark chocolate malt notes, though it lacks the overall smoothness the Oatmeal Porter has. Maybe a hair shy of the Oatmeal, but this is very nice.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of coffee, bakers cocoa, roasted malt and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasted malt, earthiness and light cocoa with a smooth dry lingering coffee finish.

Man, I love beers with coffee in ’em. Absolutely love ’em. This one by Highland doesn’t really bring any innovation to the genre, but it’s still delicious and well made. I could drink a lot of this. Sampled at Knoxville brewer’s jam. 2011.

Pours dark black with chestnut brown edges and one finger of tan head. Nose is very nice, molasses and sweet java notes. Lots of chocolate and a light roast. Coffee flavor is a tad weak. Spent grounds and bitter bakers chocolate. Noticeable acidity from the coffee and dark grain. Medium body with a slightly thin feel and almost absent carbonation.
