3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour with a nice tan head that quickly fades. Aroma of coffee with a touch of lactose. Mmmm ... sweet flavor of chocolate covered espresso beans with a slight bitter finish. Thick mouthfeel with a tingly carbonation underneath. Another well crafted Highland brew.

Bottle. Dark black not much head retention. Aroma is nice amounts of coffee. Light chocolate.
Flavor is bitter coffee bean that just turned. Light caramel and a weak hop in the back ground. Really bitter. Pretty astringent and basic.

Bottle thanks to ygtbsm94 for fbw...thanks again. Pours a deep dark brown, nearly black color with large brown head. Aroma is roasty/coffee, sweet, chocolate malt. Big roasty flavor, up front, slightly astringent. Chocolate malt, and lactose like flavor follows. Listening to ACDC while I drink this of course.

Very delicious. But I happen to be a coffee lover and that is the flavor that comes through. Pretty big mouthfeel (have gotten used to the SC lighter bodied porter)- drinks more like a stout. Totally smooth with good bitterness added from the coffer profile- not so much the hops- although they are there in the background. From the Briess website:
"Midnight Wheat Malt will contribute the same color characteristics as Black Malt but without the bitter, astringent, dry
flavors or aftertaste". Leaning to heavily on the coffee for some palates, but works for me. Could be my favorite from Highland Brewing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
@ Party Town / Florence KY --- Opaque brown-black with a light head cover, thin streaks of lace. Aroma is healthy earth, malt, and coffee. Taste matches the aroma: roasted malt, dark, moist earth, coffee, and dark toast are all present on a base of mild bittering. All moves smoothly to a lingering finish in which no additiopnal bittering is necessary. Very palatable, I’m having it tonight in front of TV and a fire with Triscuits and Havarti cheese. It’s a good night.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
There is a medium hit of light and silky coffee on the nose but that is then replaced with pure, straight up milk chocolate. And that flavor dominates the rest of the 12oz. And I mean that in the best possible sense. The coffee flirts underneath and as it warms a bit more coffee ground bitterness does rear its head but primarily this is like hot chocolate and I liked it.
