Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Smells of apples, chocolate, malt, and mocha. Creamy mouthfeel. Mild of flavor, but pleasant.

On tap. Dark brown with a tan top. Scent is dark bread. Toasted malt taste with a sweet then earthy, bready finish.

Bomber from Worden’s in Missoula. Pours dark brown with a decent tan head and a smoky aroma. There is phenolic smoked malt flavor that makes sipping a bit unpleasant. Otherwise a standard red ale .

Bottle. Pours clear ruby red-brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Faint aroma of sweet caramel malt. Flavor is medium sweet caramel and toffee. Finish is crisp and devoid of bitterness.

Bomber from Hamilton MT. Interesting brew here. Nice and roasty with a good peaty flavor. Really seemed to hit the style in a tasty, classic way.

Golden amber/reddish pour with small off white head. Aroma was very faint malt and hops. Taste was faint malt and caramel and very faint hop finish. Very thin and muted taste but nice and crisp carbonation. Not bad but not memorable.

Bottle: Dark chestnut pour with a thin beige head. Aroma is malty, earthy, peat. Tastes malty too, some florals keep it a little crisp, and more earth tones. Not bad.

650ml bottle poured a pleasing amber color with about a finger of white head and a few spots of lacing. Aroma is lightly toasted malts and some hops. Taste is malty sweet with a mild hoppy bitterness in the finish. A medium body and light carbonation. A fairly decent amber ale.

Classic Scotch ale color and texture. A little weak on flavor but satisfying out of the 22oz bottle.

Draft at Stone of Accord, among other places in Missoula. Pours a murky dark brown with red stripes at the edges. Creamy tan head. Big nose showing lots of notes of dark brown bread and oats. Creamy thick body with lively carb. Toasty brown bread mid palate. Mild finish. Appealing scotch that’s widely available and pleasant to drink, as well as being something of a point of local historical pride in some quarters.
