Dark full body porter. Black patent malt and subtle hints of dark chocolate. Wonderful nose with hints of beech smoke, and a refreshing finish.

Nice colour, aromas of chocolate n smoked wood(maybe hickory or maple). Nice crisp, mellow taste tbat doesnt linger on the palate too long like many porters. Nice session beer.

Aroma is rich malts, molasses, caramel, hickory and smoked wood. Taste is sweet malts with fairly deep malt complexity. Balanced well with a light hopiness. Appearance is a dark amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

[6567-20140801] Bottle. Mild roasted meat and malt and fruity plum aroma. Slightly hazy, dark brown black body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Toasted grains and chocolatey dust flavour. Medium-full body. Good, easy to drink. (7/4/8/3/15) 3.7

Fairly close to black pour with a medium tan head. Aroma has vanilla, some smoke, roasted malt. Taste has a little chocolate in it. Medium to full body.

(bottle conditioning issue) pours clear dark brown, ruby tint, with an abnormal tall and creamy light beige head, good retention and lacing. lightly smoked vanilla beans, milk chocolate, peppery berries, dry ironed molasses, roasted coffee beans - slightly ashy and metallic, chalk, touch of carbonic acid, bittering resin. foamy carbonation, light body, dry, lightly smoked and grassy-spicy finish. minus bottling issue, this would have been a nice gently smoked and tasty porter.

The beer pours a coca-cola colour with a thin tan coloured rocky cap which lasts. The aroma is smoked wood, molasses and hints of licorice. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt, molasses, and smoke. Quite drinkable for 6.5%

Poured from a 500ml bomber. Aroma is subtle smoke with some toasty malt and some sweet caramel. Some sweetness to start, pumpernickel and some caramel. The roast gives the beer some balance. Nice beer but not much smoke for a smoked porter.

Black pour, smoke aroma is on the lighter end for the style, but it’s there. Taste is smoke, but feels a bit watered down, roast malt. Thin body. Fine beer, but tough to compare to Alaskan

Aroma: 7/10. Very nice sweet malty aroma, hints of toasted marshmallow, vanilla. No hint of smoke really yet. Appearance: 4/5. Pours a dark cola black with a very thin white head that fades pretty fast, mild to moderate lacing. Taste: 8/10. Like a roasted and slightly burned marshmallow. Vanilla, alcohol, just enough smoke to back up that pleasant toasted flavor. It’s not intensely sweet, but the finish is very nice. Palate: 3/5. Watery and thin. I *really* wanted this beer to just be more beer and a little less water. I think that alone would bump the score on Taste up another point. However, it’s definitely a very sessionable beer, so it holds up well to the porter style. Overall: 16/20. I praise this one through faint damnations. The toasted-lightly-burnt marshmallow flavor that the smoking of the malts gives this beer is just fabulous, and overall I drink this beer and think of campfires and nights under the stars, and deliberately burning my marshmallows as a kid. The point scoring is fair, but there’s a special place for this one in my heart.

Near black pour with a tan head that leaves a little lace. Light roasted notes and light smoke on the nose. Everything here is fairly subdued. There’s a little chocolate and coffee as well. Moderate amounts of smoke on the palate with with an underlying chocolate flavour. Finishes a little quick and just dies out rather than fading. Decent enough.
