Dark brown, ample fizzy and fizzling rocky head. Aroma is smoke, leather, toast. Similar taste once you sip it...really quite smoky. Quite a bit of sweetness too that is unusual. Fruits and berries on the finish, before the smoke blows in. Without the smoke, I think this would be a really strange beer. The smoke masks some of that.

It looks a lot worse than it tastes. Has small brown head that dissapears in no time at all. No carbonation at all, pretty flat. That being said, it tastes quite decent. Toasty dark bread and very faint smoke. Almost opaque garnet black with clear highlights. It has low bitterness and sticky smooth finish. Body is not overly heavy as you would expect, but medium thickness.

Bottle from LCBO. Toasty dark bread and very faint smoke. Almost opaque garnet black with clear highlights. Sweet toasty vanilla and hazelnut flavour with low bitterness. Medium full body, moderate carbonation, sticky smooth finish.

Bottle - Bacony smoked malts and some dark fruit. Jet black with a rich beige head. Roasted malts, burnt toast and some chocolate. Not much smoke in the taste, but still nice.

650ml bottle. Dark brown body with reddish tones, small dense latte head with excellent retention. Aroma of caramel malt, dates, light smokiness, blackberries jam, hazelnuts, a touch of coffee. Taste well done toast, caramel, a touch of smoke, licorice, a little coffee. Very well done.

Pours jet black, with a small brown head. Aroma notes include coffee, smoke nuts, espresso, toffee, tannins, and roasted malts. Tasting notes include coffee, roasted nuts, smoke, a slick earthy mouth feel but suffers from a watery body. Decent porter, but a little weak in the middle.

650ml brown bottle. Dark brown colour, large tan head. Nose has chocolate and light smoke. Taste of dark chocolate and roasted malts with light smoke notes. Dry finish, roasty aftertaste, creamy palate. Overall, a good porter, I would have enjoyed more smoke though.

650ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a finger of light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild with chocolate and light roasted notes. Taste is a dark roasted grain bitterness with a chocolate malt sweetness finishing with a red wine grape dryness. A pretty well done brew that fits the style well. Recommended.

Tasted at Real Canadian Craft Beer Fest. Classically styled with a bit more body than some others I’ve had. This one is pretty decent for the style.
