Highlander Scottish Ale has a bright red almond colour with toasted malt, a hint of caramel, and a touch of fruit aromas. It has medium body, with coffee and chocolate flavours, nice hop balance and nutty finish.

650 ml bottle from the LCBO. Appearance: Pours a clear deep brown with almost a finger of white head. Minimal retention and little lacing. Aroma: Malt, biscuit and something I can’t quite identify that is throwing things off. Flavours: Malt, straw, bit of caramel. Mouthfeel: Thin with moderate carbonation. Overall: The aroma wasn’t that great on this one but the flavours were okay. Everything seemed muted and subdued without any real character. Not much more to say.

I had this beer a while back and it was one of the worst beers I ever had. I’m not sure if they changed the recipe but this is actually pretty respectable and have no problem drinking more of this.

Bottle @ THT November. Pours a clear brown beer with a very small off white head on top. Aroma of sugar, caramel and slightly herbal. Flavor is thin, sweet and chocolately. Quite boring and thin, watery moutfheel. Not very interesting.

Sampled from bottle @ THT November. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Aroma is pretty grainy, don’t get anything else. Tastes very malty and grainy as well with a slight hint of sweetness and nuts. Average body and carbonation. I don’t like it.

Copper pour with a quick fading eggshell head. Toffee and nuts on the nose with a little cooked fruit. Mostly the same on the palate but less well defined. Finishes slightly sweet with a little earthy note.
