Highlander Scottish Ale has a bright red almond colour with toasted malt, a hint of caramel, and a touch of fruit aromas. It has medium body, with coffee and chocolate flavours, nice hop balance and nutty finish.

A very nice beer. Not great, but not bad either. I like Scottish ales, but this one is a little lighter and less alcohol than I usually like. But still good.

Draft - Toffee and some twig. Clearish Amber with a decent white head. Lots of caramel and soft grains with a touch of cocoa. Solid.

This bottle is "past date" but I donít see how thatís possible. Anyhoo, judging by the ratings below, my experience wasnít much different than those who tried a fresher bottle. Caramel, toasted grain, straw, light spiciness, fairly watery. Slightly dry finish with a hint of bitterness. Itís not terrible, itís just kind of blah.

650 ml bottle from the LCBO. Appearance: Pours a clear deep brown with almost a finger of white head. Minimal retention and little lacing. Aroma: Malt, biscuit and something I canít quite identify that is throwing things off. Flavours: Malt, straw, bit of caramel. Mouthfeel: Thin with moderate carbonation. Overall: The aroma wasnít that great on this one but the flavours were okay. Everything seemed muted and subdued without any real character. Not much more to say.

I had this beer a while back and it was one of the worst beers I ever had. Iím not sure if they changed the recipe but this is actually pretty respectable and have no problem drinking more of this.

Bottle @ THT November. Pours a clear brown beer with a very small off white head on top. Aroma of sugar, caramel and slightly herbal. Flavor is thin, sweet and chocolately. Quite boring and thin, watery moutfheel. Not very interesting.

Sampled from bottle @ THT November. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Aroma is pretty grainy, donít get anything else. Tastes very malty and grainy as well with a slight hint of sweetness and nuts. Average body and carbonation. I donít like it.
