3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1906 Reserva Especial has a thin, white, soapy head, a hazy, orange-golden appearance, lots of little orange chunks floating about, some streaming bubbles, and a decent amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is bold and rich. One picks up medium-roasted barley malt, some alcohol sweetness, and brown bread. Taste is of all those, plus some bread crust, a slight hop bitterness, and even a fruitiness (figs?). Mouthfeel is medium, and 1906 Reserva Especial finishes mostly dry, fairly refreshing, bold, and strong. This is more of a sipper, really. Overall, I think it’s a really delicious beer. RJT

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Quite decent, for my palate , for a "lager", the sweet malt gives it a full flavour, very drinkable .

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Waitrose. Amber. Minimal, white head. Brown sugar. Molasses, maybe. Taste is thick sweetness, with a burnt bitterness. Pretty heavy going, although this is probably down to this not being my favourite style, in the first place.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml Bottle: poured into a ’Chimay’ chalice at home on 4th March 2014.
Nice old gold colour to the clear body with a white head that fell away to a wisp and collar fairly swiftly.
Malty feel throughout the brew, in all aspects, the nose being full of molasses type smells with very little else to find.
The taste is also leaning heavily towards a semi-sweet maltiness with next to no bitterness until the finish which has a weak hop dryness which helps to balance out the malts sweetness a little.
I like the sweeter brews so this suited my taste buds, others will find it too sweet for the style and unbalanced because of that.

0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20
Horrible tasting beer. This was absolutely off putting tastes of stale malts and leaves a bad taste in mouth.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich amber/caramel color. Thin white head. This beer doesn’t dissapoint for a lager. Its aroma is spicy and.hoppy white being quite bitter. The flavor’s bitterness overshadows the malt. A strong lagerbeer that is more enjoyable than you’d expect.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 ml slimline can, as 1906 Año Reserva Especial, produced in Spain for Hijos de Rivera. www.club1906.es . ABV is 6.5%. Ingredients include maize. Golden (nearly deep golden) colour, moderate white head. Fairly decent aroma of grassy hops. The flavour is "dusty", bland and boring, but not offensive.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml bottle as “Hijos de Rivera 1906 Reserva Especial” at Aeon in KCP, Kowloon City.
Clear amber brown colour; Very thin head with residual white foam which lasts for 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing with fizzy small carbonation; Slightly pungent smell of lager malt, with grains, light roasty, faint caramel, light molasses and light funk; Light sweet taste of roasted malt, with notes of dark chocolate, thin caramel, molasses, faint wet cardboard, Cola, dry biscuits, bread, dough, thin lemon and faint grass; Light body, dry and watery palate; Mouth feel is a strong-tasted Amber Lager, malty with good roastiness and dryness, light caramel, strong notes of molasses, very bready and biscuit. Wet paper shades is not an issue here. Pretty neat… Not much hoppiness except light lemon taste. Barely detectable grass and very low bitterness, Mostly dry, malty finish with astringent hint; Very dry after taste, crisp and easy to mouth.
Comments: The slightly funky lager aroma makes no indication of its quite decent taste, which is way better than most macro Ambers. Interesting to drink but post no threat to quality craft brew Ambers, I’ll like it more if they do away the funk. Okay.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Coloração quase âmbar, espuma média para rasa. Aroma fraco, mas que lembra algo caramelizado. No sabor, leve malte, lúpulo e traços de álcool. Paladar seco e de pouca duração.
