1906 Reserva Especial has a thin, white, soapy head, a hazy, orange-golden appearance, lots of little orange chunks floating about, some streaming bubbles, and a decent amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is bold and rich. One picks up medium-roasted barley malt, some alcohol sweetness, and brown bread. Taste is of all those, plus some bread crust, a slight hop bitterness, and even a fruitiness (figs?). Mouthfeel is medium, and 1906 Reserva Especial finishes mostly dry, fairly refreshing, bold, and strong. This is more of a sipper, really. Overall, I think it’s a really delicious beer. RJT

330ml bottle, best before 2017-03. Pour clear amber with copper notes, minimal white foam that vanish before I put the bottle aside. Lightly roasted malt aroma with notes of candy and ethylene. Alcohol take over the sweet malt. Medium body, medium to high residual sugar, low bitterness and a bit salty. Low carbonation, dry, long sweetness and alcohol finish.

33cl bottle @ Home. Aroma: not very intense aromas of malts, maybe some hints of caramel and nothing more. Appearance: light-caramel light amber color with white creamy head made of tiny bubbles. Slightly above average head thickness and retention. Low-to-medium Brussels’ lace. Cristal clear. Taste: light-to-medium sweetness, light-to-medium bitterness, no sourness. Very drinkable and quite thirst-quenching. Pleasant flavors of malts, hints of caramel and some hop bitterness. Quite well balanced. Palate: light-to-medium body, watery-to-oily texture, slightly under average carbonation, light-to-medium dry and bitter finish of malts. Overrall: very good appearance, not much aromas nor flavors. Very drinkable and thirst-quenching. Not bad for a mass-brewery’s beer.

Pours clear, deep orange body with medium sized, long lasting, frothy white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Smell is yeast and malts. Medium body, very softly carbonated. Thick, oily texture. Mostly sweet taste with some subtle bitternes in the background. Aroma of sweet malts, yeast, licorice, caramel. Slightly dry finish with a bit of metallic bitternes on the tongue. Overall, not bad.

Legacy rating. 330ml bottle. Pours light copper in colour with a thin bubbly white head and good carbonation. Mild sweet aroma with copper and sherry. Rather cloying and somewhat metallic aftertaste.

Okay antique white head, golden body that’s clear, medium carbonation. Has a lager aroma with soft caramel hints. Flavour is dry grains, rye it seems, with a crisp finish. Not exciting but certainly drinkable.

0.33 l bottle from Marbeilla, shared with my dad. Amber color, thin but long lasting white head. Malts dominated aroma and taste with a sweet overtune. Medium finish, and heavier body than expected. Decent brew.
