Pale Lager month installment number 26: You guys remember Hiland Potato Chips? The brand got bought by a gas station chain based out of Des Moines. They’re diversifying the brand now I suppose.... you can even get Hiland Beer now.... but only at the Gas Station!
Pours a light golden color with a big semi loose head that fizzes out right quick. The aroma reminds me of a mild sake mild sweet rice mild not particularly offensive booziness it’s mild smelling all around though. The flavor displays similar mild rice sweetness and a booziness that’s somehow not annoying. The beer is fruity with a mild herbal zing. For being Minhas brewed gas station brand beer it’s really very acceptable.

Medium gold, just a little lighter than the Lager. There was a thin scum of white head on top. The nose is bell peppers along with some raw potatoes. The taste has potato skins along with some hints of bell pepper. Overall decent and a little dry in the finish. Very good for a light pale lager. Taste wise, the best of the Hiland bunch from Kum & Go.
