[2161-20090516] Cask. Mild watery fruit aroma is mostly oranges. Slightly hazy, medium orange body with no head. Citrus pip flavour has mild lemony hints. Light-medium body is very flat. Overly mild and nice.

On cask at the brewery in Lisburn. Pours a pure copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet overripe fruit and vanilla. The flavor is similar; a rich bitter, vanilla, fruity and slightly bitter in the finish. Enjoyable.

Draught, at the Porterhouse, Dublin. Pours translucent faint copper with off-white head. Decent aroma of hops and dried fruits. Pleasant on the palate, but with somewhat of a rather weak mouthfeel. A decent ale overall.

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Copper colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, dusty hops and hints of cold coffee. Malty, fruity taste with notes of peaches, a solid malt foundation with a touch of caramel, dusty hops in a short finish. Light body, mainly dry. A decent bitter.

Cask@GBBF2009. Ambery golden colour, small off-white head. Aroma is wood, some earth, caramel malts as well as some mild buttery and metallic notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Quite watery.

2009-05-16. Dark orangey amber body is headless. Flavour is pleasantly fruity with just a touch of citrus, sweet oranges, mild malt base. Aroma of sweet orange and tangerine rind. Average palate is pretty flat. Just a touch watery at times, but some more carbonation (or some at all) would do wonders for that. I really enjoyed this one, partly I expect because it followed up a pretty crap lager, but it was a nice change of pace. Refreshing. Cask at Porterhouse, Dublin.

Me: "Whats on the cask?"
"Its a cask ale."
Me:"What kind?"
Blank stare from bartender who clearly thinks I’m an idiot that doesn’t know what cask beer is.
Me:"What BREWERY?"
"Oh! Hilden."
Sigh
