3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 28, 2009
2009-05-16. Dark orangey amber body is headless. Flavour is pleasantly fruity with just a touch of citrus, sweet oranges, mild malt base. Aroma of sweet orange and tangerine rind. Average palate is pretty flat. Just a touch watery at times, but some more carbonation (or some at all) would do wonders for that. I really enjoyed this one, partly I expect because it followed up a pretty crap lager, but it was a nice change of pace. Refreshing. Cask at Porterhouse, Dublin.
Me: "Whats on the cask?"
"Its a cask ale."
Me:"What kind?"
Blank stare from bartender who clearly thinks I’m an idiot that doesn’t know what cask beer is.
Me:"What BREWERY?"
"Oh! Hilden."
Sigh
