3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 11, 2012
First tasted this in the Hogshead, Paisley in March 1998. Cask, handpump dispense. Ruby black in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight yeasty bread notes along with roast grain in the short aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a burnt toast note along with coffee and bitter chocolate. Dusty hop resins give a slight bitter aftertaste. Finish is smooth and mellow with treacle and liquorice notes. A decent session porter.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Svesse (4402) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 9, 2007
(Cask at GBBF, London, 9 Aug 2007) Black colour with ruby notes, frothy pale brown head. Malty nose with notes of dark fruit, prunes and some citrussy hops. A hint sourish. Malty taste with chocolate, nuts, prunes and raisins. Fairly dry, citrussy (or sourish?) finish. A bit boring for a porter.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 fonefan (25152) - VestJylland, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2007
Cask @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear dark brown color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, raosted, burnt, sour. Flavor is light to moderate sweet and light bitter with a short duration. Body is light, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. Out off balance.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 20, 2007
Half pint pulled at The Rake at London Bridge (London), dark with a bubbly beige head. A bitter roasted aroma with a slight presence of hops. Quite astringent and acidic in the mouth, some roasted malt flavours, but a overbearing sweetness dominates. Falls short for me.
