Cask (handpump) at GBBF, day 3 on 3 August 2006. Amber colour. Dryish and earthy. Not a lot of hops in evidence. As I’ve found with some other Hilden brews, the malts have a slightly under-brewed, worty feel to them. Not too bad though.

On cask at the John Hewitt. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet vanilla and malty earthiness. The flavor is a sweet Irish Ale (call it a bitter); vanilla and caramel, light fruit, lots of hop bitterness in the finish. Decent.

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.
Clear medium amber orange color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, caramel, light hoppy, grass, citrus, orange. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090804]

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End. Amber brown with an off white head. Malt accented with a dry fruitiness and subtle hops in the finish. Ok.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2012 1)The Baron, Knickersby. Bright orange amber with a fine lacing slick. Grass and orange aroma with a sprinkle of urinal, some good herbal and honey tones as it warms. Surprising bite of hop bitterness, apple peel and tangerine fruit, nuts, bread, lime, detectable alcohol. Lingering malted milk and cashew aftertaste. Not the sludgy confection I was expecting, but something altogether more..focused, and full of fresh malt character. Clean and slightly beautiful. 2) The Felix, Nuneaton, 17/03/12. Good jellied hop, jammy aroma; blackcurrant wine gum. Redcurranty, orange tang; light bitterness and husk, some shrub. Bronze, skim of lacing white. 736313.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 3/11/09. Deep gold, slightly hazy with a slight white head. Aroma of tinned peaches and digestive biscuits. Flavour was sweet with some apricot jam, earthy hops and a short, bitter finish. A half pint was enough.

Cask at the Standing ORder (JDW), Derby. Gold with a thin white head; fruity aroma; richy fruity flavours to start then ultra-dry with a touch of quinine.

Golden with a small white head. Grainy and grassy aroma. Sweet grainy malt flavour. Rather boring

Svesse (5197) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 3, 2009
(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Copper colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of nuts, apricots and grainy malt. Malty, slightly fruity taste with grain, dried fruit, apricots and a certain spicy, mild bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, balanced sweetness. Boring but drinkable.
