Medium-dark amber, fizzy pour with a white dissipating head. Aroma: hops, malty caramel, pepper, apple, woody, moderate grapefruit and grass. Taste and mouthfeel: fizzy and slightly dry. Sweet and bitter and nicely balanced. By far the best of the Hilden brews for me.

Half, by hand pump, shared at NWAF. Clear copper coloured body, film-type layer. Half-dry fruity nose. Some fresh taste of lemony hops with smooth malty sweetness behind. Mid-dry, bitter endnotes. Quite well bodied. Satisfying (Manchester, 25.01.2013).

Cask at the Porterhouse, Temple Bar. Light amber/gold with decent white head that lasts the distance. Aroma is a nice citrus hit with a touch of orange, slight grassy note, bit of sweet malt. Taste is citrus (lemon especially), light tangerine, and bit of grapefruit; nice biscuit and caramel character from the malt. Very well balanced. Good degree of citric hop zing in the aftertaste, nice crisp bitter finish. A great pale ale which I was fortunate to get in tip-top fresh condition.

Bottle. Appearance: Golden orange, small white head. Aroma: floral, quite hoppy ! A little sweet, again wonderfully floral. Flavour: decently hopped with a nice grain backbone, floral with a little a little sourness and spice, slightly slick mouth feel with a nice hoppy finish. Very very good.

[cask at the Stockbridge Tap, Edinburgh] Pours clear gold with a decent white head. Quite hoppy on the nose, pithy citrus and some lighter grassy elements. Similar flavours, before a dry, bitter finish arrives. Some sweeter fruit in there as well, but – as you’d expect for a beer with the name Twisted Hop – it has more of the bitterness about it [03102012]
