COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This farmhouse ale was brewed at Hill Farmstead with our friend and mentor Anders Kissmeyer (Kissmeyer Beer & Brewing) and our longtime friend Will Meyers (Cambridge Brewing Co.). Inspired by our guests and their journeys, this beer was brewed with the resourcefulness and inventiveness of the Nordic tradition, as well as the creative spirit of its three architects.

Nordic Inspired Ale brewed with Heather Honey

Released in bottles, Summer 2014

Slight sour and citrus aroma. The smell reminds me of a sour candy that I can’t quite place. There is no maltiness to this beer. Its dry and tart as a sour should be. No hop aroma or taste. Dry tart and pleasantly sour. A slight orange peel taste at the end. I really love this beer.

Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of lemony notes is pretty dominant with light flora and funky ester are also observable. Taste is also dominated by strong lemony notes with some light floral notes, light tart notes and some funky notes at the end. Body is about average with good carbonation. Interesting and somewhat refreshing but lemony taste is just a tad too strong in my personal opinion.

Bottle to glass. Pours a hazy golden yellow color with a frothy off white head. Aroma is pleasant, saison yeast, touch of funk, citrus. Big yeasty bite in the flavor. Overall a very nice beer.

Hazy gold pour. Aroma slight tart. Tastes mostly of tart rhubarb. Herbs add slight complexity.

yellow, white head. Aroma is citrus and honey. Dry with small tart notes, honey throws it off a bit. Nice though but underwhelming considering the brewery.

Originally reviewed 7/28/2014. 750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Hazy pale orange. Nice white head. Some lacing. Thick collar and nice surface wisps. Sharp citrus aroma. Lemony tartness. Citrus hops. Grassy and herbal character. Yeasty aromas. Tastes yeasty and tart. Lemon zest tartness. Grassy. Almost a salty flavor in the back end. Well carbonated. Pleasantly tart. Medium body. It’s not a standout saison for Hill Farmstead and I definitely have no idea what Nordic means, but I enjoy it quite a bit.
