COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children.  In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.

from a growler filled at the brewery, this is the best of the IPA’s currently available there: it has a sweet citrus aroma, lemon & grapefruit & pine resin hop flavor on a well crafted malt backbone, a crisp, boozy mouthfeel and a slightly bittersweet aftertaste. It pours hazy dark yellow, unfiltered (as all the Hill Farmstead IPA’s are) with a thin head that quickly dissipates. I may buy only Abner next time I visit Hill Farmstead!

4/VII/14 - 75cl swing top bottle @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - BB: 1/VII/14 (2014-693) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear deep blond beer, small aery off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of pineapple, citrus, grapefruit, some lychee, little tiny cheesy touch. MF: soft carbon, full body. taste: Wow! Very fruity start, lots of pineapple, some passion fruit, grapefruit, mango, then citrus and pretty bitter when swallowing. Aftertaste: very bitter, bit of an alcohol burn, resinous, lots of grapefruit, hoppy, little sweet touch that is easily overpowered by the piny bitterness. Lovely beer!

Growler. Hazy glowing gold/orange. Taste and aroma are floral with strong apricot and mango notes. Great mineral aspect to the finish. Dry crackly mouthfeel with a short finish. Incredible.

On tap at TJs. Pours a cloudy amber color with a silky white head. Grapefruit, pine, melon, earth. Moderately bitter and sweet. Medium bodied. Smooth with a hint of carbonation. Fantastic.

75cl growler, fresh batch (best consumed by 7/01/2014), no mention of ABV, new American brew Anno 2010, thx alot to Secret Santa for bringing this over!, very complex bitter brew, fruity/bitter and slightly floral/malty/woody, balanced, hazy, rocky head, very good brew, yet expensive!

Gowler pour at the Siren Maiden launch CBC Clerkenwell. Huge thanks to Leighton for my first Hill Farmstead beer. Big moment for me. Aroma is big pine and tropical fruits, lychee, orange. I though there was some saison yeast aroma as well, but perhaps i had had too much to drink. Flavour is clean malt profile, slight biscuit then the hops are lemon and orange citrus, tropical squishy fruits, midget gems. Utterly drinkable, very tasty.

750ml growler. Hazy orange with a foamy white head. Flavors are grapefruit, peach, apricot, pine needles, resinous hops, bread, honey, sweet malts and alcohol with floral and herbal notes. Dry and fruity finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Now that’s a drink!

0,75 l bottle bought today at the brewery and shared at a barbeque. Light unclear golden in the glass. Heavy fruity and hoppy on the nose. Starts very hoppy, grapefruits with malts in the second row. Mighty but pleasant and warmed bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice brew.
