COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children.  In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.

LSAT Freedom Trip #218. Growler from the brewery, shared at a tasting. Clear golden amber, floaties, large foamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of resin, piney, earthy, mild tropical hops, pale malt. The taste is tropical, resin, pine, citrus hops and pale malt. Medium bodied, lignering bitterness, well balanced.

Taster at the source and shared a 2 liter growler later that night. Pours a hazy golden/orange color with medium sudsy white head. Aromas come through with citrus, tropical, dank, pine, and slight onion. Flavor was orange, grapefruit zest, pineapple, peach, mango, pine, onion, and dank. Really a great beer. Full body, slicky texture to it, lively carbonation, and bitter on the palate. Slight hints of alcohol were noticed, but overall really good beer. Glad to have finally ticked this off the list.

Tan orange, clear, ample tan head. Light roasted molasses, juicy citrus, pine. Quite sweet, bitter. Very clean for as much residual sugar, heavier body, long finish. Really excellent.

On tap at Three Penny in Montpelier. Deep golden-colored pour. Heavy on the hops and has a nice full body. Can’t really distinguish the individual hops but this is how a DIPA should be made. Yet another home run.

10 ounces on tap @Parker Pie. Aroma: tropical fruits, lots of oranges on a floral and slightly malted background. App: hazy unfiltered peach, small white head leaving some lacing. Taste and palate : lots of fruits in mouth especially oranges, medium body, light sweetness, extra dry and medium bitter finish. Overall: wow! This is quite incredible! Especially in this place that looks far from a place that carries that kind of masterpieces. I finished it in a record time. Hope I can get my hands on this one another time soon.

On tap at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier, VT. Pours an orange-yellow with a pillowy white head. Clumpy lacing. Nose is sweet and fruity with citrus hop notes. Taste is malty sweet up front, but then a blast of hoppy bitterness. Very nicely balanced. Excellent brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Sommarprovning 2015-08-05. Hazy pale golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy citrus and peach aroma, oranges, grapefruit, lemons, caramel notes, pine apples, fresh hoppy bitterness with some grass and passion fruit. Hoppy citrus flavor, peach, pine notes, hay, spicy hop notes, pine apples, grapefruit, herbal notes, some orange zest. Full bodied and with alcohol well hidden. Fantastic beer, I can drink this all evening!
