4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Honey pour with hints of tangerine...ample carbonation with a wispy white head. Bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass. Grapefruit rind, orange peel, and lemon zest along with a subtle grassiness, earthy notes, floral qualities, and peppery spice. All of the above are included in the flavor. Lots of sharp citrus, evergreen, and tart peach. No honey, no biscuit, no caramel. This is unadulterated hops. Love the aggressiveness...YUM!

Big thanks to Mike (gushue3) for the growler and other Vermont goodness. 750 ml swing top served in a CBS snifter.
A: Pours a solid apricot color with a chilled haze. A thick one finger, pure white head forms on the pour. It recedes quickly into a thick collar that leaves a huge netting of lace.
S: This smells wonderful. Fruity and grassy hops first come into play. Nice tropical fruit smells with pineapple and mango, some mild citrus, a touch of pine and a solid malt presence as well.
T: The taste is just the same. Nice pineapple, mango and papaya with some orange as well. Sweet bready malts create a nice backbone throughout the drink. The finish has a slight bitterness with a hint fresh pine. Very balanced.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. The sweet malt and fruity hop flavors linger across the palate for quite sometime and the beer is highly drinkable.
O: What do you know? A delicious DIPA from Hill Farmstead. Shaun knows how to kill it and I wish I could these beers all the time. Incredibly balanced and overall just delicious.

Iíve always been hesitant to rate beers on numeric scales. What exactly is a perfect score? Now that Iíve had a few glasses of Hill Farmstead Abner, I now know the upper limit of beer scoring.
On tap via Farmhouse Tap & Grill (from notes)
Aroma: Citrus, Pine, Hoppy
Appearance: Hazy, Orange, Off White Head
Taste: Bitter, Little Sweet. The hoppiness and bitterness is very well balanced.
Palate: Medium body, Clean, crisp
Overall: I donít think DIPAs can get any better than this. Iíve tasted several great DIPAs, but Abner always comes away the winner.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2013 On tap at HF.
Pours hazy pale blond with high white creamy head. Extreme lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine. Taste is of citrus, pine, malt. Good body. Overall: Very good. Quite hop-oriented, on the aromatic side (reasonable bitterness). [Update: Just had a growler of that stuff. Simply incredibly good, refreshing. Hopping is very crafty. Beer is fairly ligth, loaded with fruits].

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hazy gold color out of the flip top growler. Foamy ivory head. Bright fresh pine and floral hop nose. Melted caramel sweetness with blooming floral hops with some pine, apricot jam, and a pinching grapefruit rind bitterness. Thick mouthfeel and a hop candy sense to it. Really great, fresh beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Hill Farmstead Harvest Festival. Hazy pale orange with a massive, thick creamy off-white head that last forever and extreme lacing. Aroma is heavy peach, grapefruit, grass and pine. Taste is smooth and about the same (peach is still very present) as aroma. Pretty hoppy but not extremely bitter. Mouthfeel is dry. Wow! This is super refreshing and drinkable. Another great beer from HF!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at HFS harvest festival. A orange / yellow color. Thick head with sheets of lacing. Smells of pineapple and a variety of tropical fruits. The bitterness is assertive but it should be. Deep, rich hop bomb. Citrus, floral and real resinous. You get the entire spectrum of bitterness. Malt is here but takes a backseat to hops. Oily texture with a medium body. Anything else I type would be rambling. Bottom line, another top tier brew from the Hill.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Had served in my HF stemmed glass at Harvest in around @ 1 pm. It was kicked within an hour. Pours straw golden with an appealing sudsy, bulbous eggshell white head two-to-three fingers in length. First off, this is a grass bomb: nosed grass trimmings, possibly the strongest and most realistic on the nose Iíve yet encountered in a beer; tilled soil, gruit herbs, flowers, grist, honey and seaweed. Tastes predominately of freshly cut wet spring grass, edamame, sunflower seeds, Simcoe hops and clementine. Ends yeasty with notes of sweat, dried pineapple, and some fir bark. Simply jaw-dropping

Growler sample. Straw with no head. Floral hop aroma, quite sweet and floral flavor. Good IPA but nothing amazing.
