COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children.† In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abnerís well.† It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped.† Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.†

From tap at the brewery. Pours hazy orange with a small, white and slight rocky head. Aroma is dense fruity, peachy and grapefruity hoppy. Smooth, fruity, peachy and grapefruity. Bitter. Bone dry, clean and crisp citrusy hoppy. Nice dry and yet lingering fruity finish.

Growler courtesy of my Hill Farmstead pusher - Leighton! Cheers Ears! Hazy amber - gold beer with a tidy off white head. Palate is light and a little crisp. Mild minerals. A little creamy malt. Really nice hops, tastes like Cascade (but I see has everything but!). Light floral notes and tangerine and lemon bring up the rear. All comes together very well indeed. Finishes light and crisp. Very nice!

A: The beer pours a cloudy orange color with a couple of fingers of cream colored head. Awesome sticky lacing to go with it. S: Smells like fresh grapefruit and tons of pine. Thereís a slight woodiness to it, like rosemary, and a fair amount of grass. There is a bit of bread to the nose, but otherwise itís all hops. T: Tastes like grapefruit too. Really fresh, vibrant, and juicy citrus flavor and a moderate pine bitterness on the finish. There are some grassy notes again and maybe a bit of a floral quality. A touch of bread to go with it all. M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation. Probably could be a bit higher, but thatís what happens when you ship a growler from one corner of the country to another. D: Hopefully all of the Hill Farmstead IPAs are similarly well done. Even with the alcohol content where it is, this is a dangerously easy to drink beer.

Growler shared at Sanderís place, NYC on an evening where we drank way too much beer - but a lot of it was HF, so it was good. This beer pours a lightly cloudy, rich gold with a frothy white head. Tons of sweet-smelling, juicy orange in the aroma. Big sweet flavor with honey and pale malts, hints of alcohol, grapefruit, orange, papaya. Full bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Super sticky, resinous finish with lots of juicy pine, ripe citrus, big pectin, honey, fructose, tons of tropical fruits. This drinks like a dream. Delicious.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured cloudy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy spruce sour citrus hop aroma. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Very good brew.
