COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children.  In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.

Growler courtesy of my Hill Farmstead pusher - Leighton! Cheers Ears! Hazy amber - gold beer with a tidy off white head. Palate is light and a little crisp. Mild minerals. A little creamy malt. Really nice hops, tastes like Cascade (but I see has everything but!). Light floral notes and tangerine and lemon bring up the rear. All comes together very well indeed. Finishes light and crisp. Very nice!

Growler shared at Sander’s place, NYC on an evening where we drank way too much beer - but a lot of it was HF, so it was good. This beer pours a lightly cloudy, rich gold with a frothy white head. Tons of sweet-smelling, juicy orange in the aroma. Big sweet flavor with honey and pale malts, hints of alcohol, grapefruit, orange, papaya. Full bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Super sticky, resinous finish with lots of juicy pine, ripe citrus, big pectin, honey, fructose, tons of tropical fruits. This drinks like a dream. Delicious.

Draught at Sommarprovning 2015-08-05. Hazy pale golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy citrus and peach aroma, oranges, grapefruit, lemons, caramel notes, pine apples, fresh hoppy bitterness with some grass and passion fruit. Hoppy citrus flavor, peach, pine notes, hay, spicy hop notes, pine apples, grapefruit, herbal notes, some orange zest. Full bodied and with alcohol well hidden. Fantastic beer, I can drink this all evening!

A: The beer pours a cloudy orange color with a couple of fingers of cream colored head. Awesome sticky lacing to go with it. S: Smells like fresh grapefruit and tons of pine. There’s a slight woodiness to it, like rosemary, and a fair amount of grass. There is a bit of bread to the nose, but otherwise it’s all hops. T: Tastes like grapefruit too. Really fresh, vibrant, and juicy citrus flavor and a moderate pine bitterness on the finish. There are some grassy notes again and maybe a bit of a floral quality. A touch of bread to go with it all. M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation. Probably could be a bit higher, but that’s what happens when you ship a growler from one corner of the country to another. D: Hopefully all of the Hill Farmstead IPAs are similarly well done. Even with the alcohol content where it is, this is a dangerously easy to drink beer.
