COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children.  In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.  8.2%, 18.5º P, 170 Theoretical ibus. Ingredients: Pale and Caramel Malt; Dextrose; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Honey pour with hints of tangerine...ample carbonation with a wispy white head. Bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass. Grapefruit rind, orange peel, and lemon zest along with a subtle grassiness, earthy notes, floral qualities, and peppery spice. All of the above are included in the flavor. Lots of sharp citrus, evergreen, and tart peach. No honey, no biscuit, no caramel. This is unadulterated hops. Love the aggressiveness...YUM!

Another delicious brew provided by maltzilla. Poured out of growler into snifter. Tons of hoppy citrus aroma. Flavor was earthy and piney with a nice malt backing. Slight grapefruit in there as well. Pretty stellar

On draft at Cigar City, pours a cloudy dark orange color aromas of fresh citrus and peaches, with hops thrown in. Flavors are the same with a nice amout of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours an orange with a small of white head. The aroma is a strong floral hop pine. Thick mouthfeel with a sweet hop and resin with lingeting bitter dry finish. A very good IIPA from HF.

Hazy orange pour with a soapy white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and hint of caramel. Lots of pine and hop flavor with some citrus and caramel background. Really nice!

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2013 Sampled at the brewery. Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma of a lot of hops plus a good amount of malts. Flavor of a lot of citrus hops. Average to smooth texture. Great. Edit: Growler in the HF glass. Aroma of so much fruity, floral, and citrusy hops. Flavor a perfect blend of these hops and the malts. A great beer.

Pours a hazy honey/orange color with a medium whige head...nice lacing. Aroma has grapefruit, peach, mango, and nice mild piney notes. Flavor follows suit...great distinctive citrus and stonefruit flavors...just a bit more pine than the aroma suggests...perfect bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is piney/bitter and dry...lingers nicely. Wow! More please.

[growler--thanks Brad!] Massive tropical and grapefruit hops in the nose along with some powdered sugar. Hazy dark yellow under a pristine flannel blanket and lace. Salty tropical and grapefruit peel and pith hops flavour with a very faint plastic note at the end. Moderate bitterness but nice and dry with lingering grapefruit pith is a very good balance to the intense hops flavour. Light body, medium carbonation.

On tap at Hawthornes in Philly. This was really good but I liked the Amarillo APA a bit better. This pours a light amber, closer to orange with a small head. The aroma is very nice with a lot of citrus along with some sweet malt. The flavor starts with the malt and then gets nice and hoppy. A very crisp and dry finish. Very good.
