COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anna (1902 - ? ) was our grandfatherís sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Honey Saison is crafted from American malted barley, European and American hops, Vermont wildflower honey, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Anna. 6.5% ALC/VOL 14ļ P Ingredients: Pale Malt, American and European Hops, Vermont Wildflower Honey, Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

750, capped, at Mikkeller. To say this beer is highly carbonated would be to grossly underestimate the ambitions of the carbon dioxide therein. Popping the cap was a big fat jailbreak for this beer. All three bartenders got at least a little tiny bit splashed. Shot everywhere. Big white geyser. Striking. Hazy medium gold in the glass, fluffy eggy head settles quickly to not much, as expected, and the carb was a little on the light side, as expected--too much was lost. Not to the great detriment of the beer by any means, but softened and mellowed it a little overmuch. Big honey nose, showing a little bit of minty herbaceousness and caramel as well, along with some sweet floral notes. That yeast and that honey sugar been makin bebbehs in the bottleses. Creamy medium body, understated carb. Honey, toasty malt, floral bits, and grassiness on the mid palate, with a minty, honeyed finish.

Aroma - flowers, wild yeast - funk, barnyard, and wheat. Appearance - the body color is a hazy maize yellow. The head color is white and it is rocky and well over 2+". The head very slowly settles. Great wispy lace spirals. Taste - there is a fine composite here. Wheat, coriander, wild yeast, and some lightly pungent hops buried tastefully below. There is also a wild floral element. Overall the impression comes off as - slightly tart, little salt, and a slight bit sour. There is some funk, a bit of barnyard. Very interesting being this is a saison. Palate - medium body, champagne-like texture, the carbonation lively, the finish is dry and effervescent.

Prufrockstar continues to come through with Hill Farmstead bottles. Not quite sure why he shares, but Iím more than happy to take advantage!

Light yellow pour, white fluffy head. Absolutely spectacular aroma. Fresh fields and light grapefruit -- delicious. Could almost be a 10; Iíll give it a 9. Flavor is delightful as well. Just the faintest sweet grassy elements, again gently sour but not strongly so, nice minerally and almost sulferic flavors running gently and well-balanced beneath. Superb.

Lucky to live in northern California. In Sunnyvale, Olsonís Cherries grows Blenheim apricots that are nearly dry-farmed, as are the Crane melons grown by the Crane Melon Barn in the black soil of Santa Rosa. Over on the coast in Davenport, Swanton Berry Farm is still growing Chandler strawberries. And Andy Mariani in Morgan Hill is the only orchardist in America I know of who grows the original "un-improved" green gage (reine claude) plum. So I have serious doubts about the deliciousness of the fruit varietals that are hardy enough to grow in the chilly climes of Vermont. Not so Vermont honey. This BiŤre de Miel rightly deserves the myriad accolades it has received. Had it at the RateBeer Best Festival.
