Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

On tap at Tria Fermentation. Poured a lemon custard yellow with a medium white head, champagne-like effervescence, and great lacing. Aroma first hits the nose with an appealing, welcoming Brett before pear and guava are introduced to the nose party. Flavor is well- balanced mix of fruits including pear, apple, guava, and floral, grassy, slight Brett funk, and a peppery finish. Extremely smooth finish and the wonderful carbonation longers to play with the palate. Unique saison that has the feel of a fine wine.

Draft at Tria... Soon as I smelled this beer it reminded me of Saison DuPont.. Great nose.. Spices, earthy, hay... Taste is the same. Dry, earthy, spices, grassy/hay. Instant classic? Body is light, bubbly, refreshing, lots of carbonation. Overall: Kick ass saison!

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar. Really light eggy color with a big white head. The nose is loads of apples and general spice. Eggy, some yeast, light floral notes. The taste is really subtle light apple and honey, syrup. Yeasty dust and orchard fruits. Light white grape. The body is really lovely, light and soft. Mineral water. So easy to sip on, relaxing. Overall, I was blown away by this beer. Even after a punishing day of big beers, this stood out as a thing of subtle beauty.
