COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

Bottle. Starts out nice and fruity with notes of watermelon and tangerine. A rough and rather unpleasant citrusy sourness takes over after a while. Too bad as this beer seemd very promising.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2014 Bottle. Hazy gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is saison yeast and citrus. Taste is lightly tart with some lactic notes and tangerine. Nice mineral aspect as well. Beautiful soft mouthfeel with sufficient carb. Incredible.

Bottle shared by AdamJackson, thanks for the opportunity! Cloudy deep straw color with a decent sized white head that dissipates slowly. Aromas of tart funky lemony light sugary malt. Flavor is tart citrus with hints of funkiness and bits of earthy earthiness to round it all out. Really nice funkified farmhouse ale.

Hazy light yellow pour with a nice white head. Funky and slightly sour nose. Really nice taste - right at the intersection of sour, funky and hoppy. Excellent.

750ml bottle (May 2014 batch) shared thanks to Lukaduke! Pours hazy golden yellow with a finger of head. Nose is bright rustic earthy dry yeast, tart citrus, lemon. Taste is sour citrus, lemon, lime, dry subtle fruity yeast, touch of cereal. Finish is dry sour fruity lemon, citrus, rustic grains, soft malt touches. Awesome!

75cl bottle. Hazy gold, big white head. Loads of tangerine, white grape and light melon on the nose with a bit of spicy yeast. Big tangerine on tasting, grape and more tropical fruit. Drying spicy yeast, pithier citrus. Grapefruit comes in there. Dry finish. Class

Bottle; Pour is fairly clear, light gold, with a frothy fine bubbled white head into this glass. Retention is average, with sticky lacing presence here as well. The nose is stunning on this one - It’s the highlight though - the bar is so high that I find the rest of it to be disappointing in a way. It’s the perfect fusion of malted barley, lemongrass, modest barnyard notes, mineral water, with a touch of peppery spice. The flavor profile takes a little adjustment - the citrus funk is striking for the style. With time though - a stunning spring saison. Spent grain, lemon zest, grassy hops, light florals, a robust mouthfeel, with a striking modest funk finishline. It was different than I predicted, but as awesome as I had hoped.
