COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

The 750mL pours with a murky sort of hazy gold body that supports a white head. The aroma offers up sugary sweetness, spicy Saison like yeasty notes, plenty of flowery wet meadow and mild fruity esters. Smells pretty rich. The taste confirms this as it is on the sweet sluggish side for a Saison with sugary sweetness, apples and pear sweet fruity esters rimmed with a fruit skin like tartness and then yeasty spices. It picks up lots of floral and flowery notes as well as a touch of funky basement mustiness mixed tartness toward the finish. Overall too heavy and too sweet.

750ml bottle shared by Madbeerbaron. Thick, unfiltered yellow-tan. Foamy, lacy white head. Lemony, sour, dry chardonnay tastes. Nice, subtle, refined. Pretty much nails it. Dry peppery, fruity tropical undertones. True.

Poured slowly out of a bottle courtesy of Adam Jackson. Cheers! Aroma is of a light Brett funk, citrus, some hay. Appearance is sparkling golden, fine carbonation, almost champagne-like. Taste tart for a Saison. Full flavored. Nice medium bodied compliments the sweet barley, light hop bitterness and hints of bready yeast. Very nice balance of flavors. Finishes very crisp.

Bottle. Thanks Mike! Medium hold body, white head. Nose is some pithy citrus, strawberries, yeast. Flavor is citrus, unbalanced tartness, a bit of harsh yeast. It’s a fine bet but doesn’t compare with most of hill’s other offerings.

I love this beer. Poured from the bottle. Beautiful orange color and a great funky Brett nose. This surprising saison hits you from the start - spice, sour, wow. Great palate and a lovely finish. A great drinker all around.

Batch and Bottle: unk Pours a diaphanous gold ale with a finger of white foam that falls over a few minutes to a broken sheet of the same. spotty lace. Smells of funk, grass, hay, must, manure and hints of herbal yeast. Nice nose. Slightly bitter initially, this converges with flavors of lemon, amaretto, pear and the slightest cloves. Some dirty character to the whole thing. Decent flavor, it’s oddly crisp with the components. Mouthfeel is light with hi carb and a snappy finish. This is a "rustic farmhouse saison". Yep, I agree with that assessment. Nice beer. Serving type: bottle 02-09-2012

Rating #900!. 75cl bottle. APPEARANCE: light clouded blond beer, nice stable white head. NOSE: little peppery, fruity, nice! TASTE: nice balanced sourness, fruity, full aftertaste, nice alcohol hint. Very good saison! Again a great Hill Farmstead beer I had the pleasure of enjoying!

Bottle. Pours a straw yellow with a foamy head. Slightly sour with good carbonation and earthy tones. Saisons aren’t my favorite style, but this one was decent.

Tap at Capones Annual Black Friday event, Norristown PA, 29/11/13. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is tarte fruit skins, citric dipped straw, burnt lemon rind, cobwebs, grass, soured grapes, light funk. Taste comprises bitter orange, earthy, farmyard, citric dipped straw, tarte lemon rind, grape skins, dank light balsa wood tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp finale. Clean and refreshing saison. Good work as usual from HF.
