COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

750, capped, at MIkkeller. Pours a hazy dark straw color with a loose and eggy white head. Lots of carb. Nice rustic nose, a little barnyard but not much--some grassy and slight lemon notes. Creamy medium body with bright carb. Toasty crackeriness under a nice bread crust, lemon, and barnyard mid palate. Crisp dry grassy finish. Very nice saison.

I’ve had a few bottles of this before, guess it’s time to throw a rating in. Although I have both fresh and 1 year old bottles, I’m choosing to rate the old bottle to see how it has evolved. Pours a hazed light straw color with a massive head (Brett propelled?) aromas are of citrus, hay and funk. Taste is dry and slightly bitter. Pronounced barnyard funk. Obviously has at least Brett in it, possibly lacto as well. Flavors of tart sunshine, musty funky cobwebs, light cheese. Floral hops for a distraction. Finish is bone dry, with a lasting funk. World class, as always.

Hazy yellow with thin white head. Thank you srsili btw! Mushroom earthiness, lemons, limes, rindy really. Mildly tart. Grapefruit. Esters kicked off all over. This lifts, not even a style I enjoy anymore.

Many thanks to Ron for providing the bottle! Pours a hazy sun-yellow color, with a big, froth head. Has aromas of wet grass, hay, citrus green apple peel and a lovely, slightly fruity, acidity. Bretts blend well into the rustic characteristics of the nose, providing an enjoyable freshness. The nose reminds me more of a Berliner Weisse, than a classic Saison, while being a bit richer and more pronounced on the nose. Has a lively, very refreshing carbonation. While the beer is still relatively low in alcohol, its got a decent body to it. Begins with soft wheat, wet hay and acidic lime, inviting sour bretts to the palate. Has a truly refreshing beginning, almost mirroring the nose, balanced by bready, slightly biscuity malts. Taste is still without a doubt providing a very pleasant freshness, with the right amount of lactic citrus fruit among funky yeast and wheat. Ends with biscuity malts among citrus bonbons, revealing a good amount of sourness. A real treat, my first Hill Farmstead brew, a fuller bodied Berliner Weisse - or a truly refreshing, sessionable saison. Either way, the beer provides a crisp, citraic freshness, well edged into a distinct wheat foundation leading to a very well composed brew, I would love to drink frequently during warm summer days.

Une saison parfaite : arôme sauvage et citronné, acidité maitrisée. La bouche est d’une pureté inouïe! Des notes de froment. Extremely drinkable!

Bottle thanks to Adam. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a large white head. A light fruity spicy nose. The flavor is big oak, big coriander, floral hops. Gentle and well made. Big lemons. Smooth. Very easy.

750ml bottle. Cloudy yellow. Lots of white foam. Aroma is lemon zest, floral, grassy. Delicate but powerful and satisfying. Taste is not excessively dry, as I thought it might be. There is a slight sweetness here. Not quite as good as I was hoping it might be but displays HF’s usual class and balance.

Thank you so much b3shine for this generous gift. I am forever in your debt. This beer just screams simplicity, elegance, and sophistication. Pours a nice lemon yellow with crazy mountains of pillow soft white head. Aromas are sweet Belgian yeast and juicy pineapple. A beautiful sour edge to this.. Funk, white wine, Belgian candy, such a good saison.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden butterscotch, large puffy white head, slow to dissipate and leaving lots of clingy lacing. Light aroma overall, with citrus, fresh cut grass, floral and slightly funky notes. Flavor is lightly tart, citric, lots of field of flowers flavors, a bit of white pepper, nice and fruity with a very light funkiness that comes on later. Medium body. Surprisingly not as soft and smooth as I normally expect from HF on the mouthfeel, but otherwise exceptional.
