COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur. 6% Alc/Vol 13ºPlato

750 ml bottle. A cloudy medium yellow beer, with a large, fizzy/frothy, lacing, mostly lasting white head. The aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain/bread, hay, cookies), moderately hoppy (flowers, grass, lemon, hint of grapefruit and apricot), moderately yeasty (earth, cobwebs, moss), with notes of orange, pepper, banana and tropical fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately sour, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/slick texture, lively carbonation, dry and long finish with moderate bitterness. This is all about the pureness of the aromas and flavors. Rather fresh, a mix of depth and quaffability not easy to achieve. Far away from any coarseness/groseness. Great beer.

This poured a slightly hazy gold with a rather thick head. The aroma is mostly dark fruits and possibly licorice and caramel. It has a subtle sweetness overtaken by an indistinct spiciness and fruitiness. I think I like it....

Bottle, thanks Tim! Aroma is sour lemon, black pepper, and grain. Tastes the same. Very tart. Light sourness. Lots of lemon juice. Really good and easy to drink but I like other HF saisons more.

Bottle: Cloudy pale gold because I got the pour from the bottom of the bottle. Rubber aroma with a taste akin to a sour ale. Well done. Farmhouse style.

Bottle through an awesome trade. Pours a clear yellow gold, huge fluffy white head tons of spider web like lace. Nose most definitely sour. Tastes tart, and possibly a little of wheat. This is so light, refreshing and just perfect on so many levels. There may be a slight touch of Brett in there somewhere.

Date on the side of the bottle reads 02/2015. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy yellow color with a soft foamy white head that dissipated within less than a minute. Lacing is somewhat stringy. The smell starts off with a nice sweet citrus to rustic funk. White grapes, lemon, lemongrass enliven to bring about an extra little spice - what seems like peppercorn. The taste takes the sweet to combine nicely with the rustic and the funk through the previously mentioned flavors. Spice (peppercorn) comes back to balance and add an extra little kick to it. As it warms, it gets a slight sour to tart edge to it and it’s absolutely fantastic. There’s no aftertaste and it has a quick little sweet to rustic to slightly sour finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a super nice sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely as a saison, I’d say this had a nice semi-spicy to sour to tart feel over my tongue. Overall, hot damn, probably the absolute best Hill Farmstead beer I’ve had to date.

Clean lightly dry, yet fruity saison. Brett is there, but subdued in a way that lets a bit of the malt sweetness come through--more so than some of the other HF saisons I have had. Really nice beer.
