COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everett (1908-1939) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, we barrel aged this Porter in a Bourbon Barrel (that previously held Buffalo Trace bourbon and Sam Adam’s Utopias) for 7 months. Naturally carbonated and hand bottled. This is one of only 300 bottles... and one of which I dream to have shared with Everett. 8% ALC/VOL 21ºP

Editor’s Note, Released in 2011, waxed 500ML bottle

500 ml blank bottle with gold wax; dense black pour with thick dark tan head; dry, roasted malt, charred chocolate, milky coffee; silly smooth texture; lots of bourbon with dry oak and bakers chocolate; very dry and roasty in the finish; chaulky, dry oak, chocolate, stale roast; great stuff

Trade from Monsterzero, thanks a mill. Bottle. Pours black with a medium frothy light brown head leaving nice lacings. Aroma is oak, coffee, alcohol, chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt. Flavor is bitter coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, hops, burnt toffee, oak, light alcohol notes. Bitter end. Well balanced. Soft carbonation. Mmm this is delicious.

Bottle ..Pours jet black, one finger beige head.Excellent lace. Aroma is dark roasted malt, chocolate, and espresso with hints of wood and vanilla sweetness. Roast and char/wood flavors upfront, underlying spicy bourbon and alcohol warming.Medium bodied, soft carbonation.Well balanced. Long lingering charred wood and dark roast malt dryness in the finish. Excellent.

Pour from a waxed bottle acquired in a nice trade awhile back. Black in color with a brown tan rich looking head. Aromas are of oak and bourbon. Very smooth and rich on your palate with that medium body characteristic of the style. Very complex flavors. First vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and roasted malt. Further on the coffee and mild bitter notes kick in. Alcohol is there but not too strong. The finish is nicely dry and long lasting. Really tasty beer and happy to try it.

Big thanks to nickd717 for opening a bottle of this at the Bruery RS Post-Party. Thanks again Nick! Served into a tasting glass. A - Pours deep brown with a nice tan cap of head leaving light lacing down the glass. S - Quite earthy all around. Oak, chocolate, and plenty of dark roasted malt help balance some of the boozy smell. Pretty smooth overall. T - Very earthy with hints of oak, chocolate, licorice, and some brandy? Not as much heat as I was expecting but still a bit hot. Lots of roasted malt in the finish that dries the pallet and lingers for a short period of time. Good balance but the body is lacking a bit. M - Medium body with heavy flavors and moderate carbonation. Nice warming feel with plenty of dark roasted malt in the finish. A bit on the thin side toward the end, it could use a bit more body department. D - Pretty easy to drink. Not the best barrel aged porter I have ever had but nowhere near the worst. I liked this one and I would love to try some of the other barrel aged hill farmstead offerings someday.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium sized creamy tan head. The aroma has dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee with some oak and barrel influences. The flavor is more roasted malts, mellow bourbon, black coffee, dark chocolate and a light smoky note. The flavors work very well together. Medium bodied and very smooth.

Thanks GT2! Pitch black pour with a massive frothy tan head. The aroma is incredible: Vanilla bourbon, caramel, brownie, chocolate, roast, boozy hints, and molasses. The flavor holds massive milky chocolate, booze, caramel, cocoa nib, and roast. Thick rich palate with low carbonation and a roasty hot finish.

Bottle. Pours black with a large and thick latte-coulured head. Sweet chocoalte and alcohol notes in the aroma. The taste has got the sweet and bitter qualities thats found in muscavado sugar. It’s also smokey, and vinous. Lots of dark malts. Licorice. Smooth. Tastes like a imperial stout aged on dessert wine barrels.
