COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed (with help from our great friend Jean of Tired Hands!) on the day of my grandmother’s passing (Norma), this is an inspired Biere de Mars fermented entirely in oak and inoculated with our house spontaneous culture.

Bottle generously provided by Gonzoillini. Thank you Tony, I’ve been interested in trying this for a very long time. Pours a cloudy brownish orange in color with very little head on the pour. I wanted to note that the bottle foamed out of the neck after opening, so keep an eye when opening. Nose is interesting and I don’t know if I exactly like it. There is honey, white wine, hops, and some band aid characteristics. Not bad, but it’s peculiar. Taste is better, it’s more focused on the white wine and lemon characters. There is some grassiness to it, it is faintly hoppy and somewhat saison-like. Mouthfeel is light, carbonation is light to non-existent, gentle acidity, and a short to moderate finish. It’s one of the better Biere de gardes I’ve had, but probably not the best. Still really thankful to try it, thanks again Tony!

75cl, Vintage 2012, new exclusive American brew, with honey, thx alot to Secret Santa!, very complex sour brew, floral/fruity and slightly woody/vinous, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

750ml bottle. 2012 batch. Slow gusher. Pours out eventually a slightly murky orange/brown shade. Big sticky head with chunks of lacing. Instant bretty, farmhouse aroma, with fruity apple and grape skin notes. Plenty of all that on the tongue as well. Starts off a little sweet but then turns dry and oaky. Quite a creamy feel to the palate. Nothing out of this world but certainly a wonderfully crafted rustic beer.

The least sour of the lineup at the very sour wheelhouse. Malty and floral aroma. Slightly tart with a nice hit of farmhouse pepper.

Bottled. Medium dark brown, cloudy, with lace. Lactic nose, caramel, honey, lemon, earth. Tangy flavor of lemon and grapefruit, earthy, caramel, salty. Soapy body. Subtle and nice, without being as mind-blowing as other beers I have had from them.

Bomber. Light sour fruit nose, yeast, honey, funk. Sour apples and peaches, light bittering, a bit of barrel. Medium dark straw color. Medium body with medium astringency. Subtle fruit flavors, which dissipate slowly on the tongue and palate. Seems stronger than 7%. Nice one.

Bottle thanks to willrunforbeer. Pours a beautiful red with small white head. Nose is very funky with some barnyard. Rustic. Taste is quite puckering initially. Slightly drying and thin. This is the most liberal example of the style but it is still quite nice. A touch sweet to be a saison and a touch too funky for a typical BdG. Very nice.

Another share from Homer. Pours a ruby red, white head, pretty beer. Aroma is a bit sour, tart, oak, yummy. Taste is tart up front, the jaws clenched a bit. Mouthfeel is light, def mouth puckering, but not overpowering. Later sips relax the jaw clenching. Tasty beer for sure.

Danish tasting session
Gushing bottle; pours a muddy dark amber color with large frothy head. Sour and a bit fruity aroma, with hints of vinegar and hazelnuts. Good body strength; it has a moderate and pleasant residual sweetness, a good yeast character, controlled citrusy acidity, lingering fruitiness, medium to low bitterness.
Could be better if more controlled and cleaner, but it’s clearly a good beer.

Bottle shared at hoppy loft. Pours medium brown with an off white head. Aroma is floral, fresh peaches, citrus. Flavor is very smooth, soft. Some peach, green apple. Finishes tart green apple. Not what I expect in a saison, but quite nice, whatever this is!
