Civil Disobedience, our non-violent protest against the homogenization of flavor, comes in the form of a spontaneous, circumstantial, and unpredictable series of beer releases. We relinquish control in favor of an anarchistic collaboration of microbial activity. This is the expression of our conscience, our opposition to oppression, and an act of creative freedom.

Been saving a bottle for several months now, opened it out of desperation and the childlike neediness for a good drink because the closest liquor store from my house is kinda shit. Okay, first of all, this is a motherfucking gusher... its residue leaked its way on my kitchen tiled floor and all over the counter and had created such a mess I don’t think the dog lapping it up could be the best solution. It trailed like a Sidewinder in the desert sands leaving the lip of the bottle. Excuse the obscure reference, but it pours shell cordovan with an interestingly beige head with which plenty of lace marks were made. HEY!!!!! I nosed cornmeal... did anyone else? No? Fuck! I also had nosed Nat Sherman New York Cut Original tobacco, and appropriately its ash from which a few cigarettes were enjoyed. Yeast was quite prominent on both the smell and the taste, and it’s distinctively farmhouse-based. Tastes predominately of wheat bread, poppy seeds, corn kernels, cigar ashes, hops, lightly citrused and booze. Ends with bitter, earthy notes.

Cola brown with a big fluffy and long lasting head. Aroma of a damp basement, tart red wine, smoky roast malt. Taste is very dry with some red wine flavours, medium bitterness, funk, really nice. Finishes quite dry. Goes excellent with these old Dutch ketchup chips no doubt.

(Bottle) Pours near black with a creamy, nougat coloured head. The aroma holds fantastic and soft malt with notes of chocolate, some caramel, earth, bread and a touch of liquorice. Well-integrated wood butter, spices, light vanilla and the slightest hint of coconut. Undertones of hay, wet stone, minerals, grass, dew, some fruits, candy, blackberry jam, raspberries, cherries, balsamic vinegar, touch of phenols and wet tobacco. The flavor is dry, near medium bitter and near medium acidic with notes of roast, grassy/earthy hops, wood, citrus, tea and a lot of other stuff. The mouthfeel is slim yet somewhat round with a light to medium (crisp) carbonation. Light astringent. Wood, grass, minerals, citrus, cherries, raspberries , black tea and dark bread. Light to medium bodied.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2012 750 ml bottle received in trade. Thank you pandableh! Pours hazy dark wooden brown with a huge soft frothy brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is sour, malty, fruity and funky with toasted malts, wood, juice plums, tamarind, hay, sour milk, brett, red wine vinegar, caramel, moist soil, mandarin oranges, dark bread, liquorice root, citrus perfumed soap, lemon zest and hints of ash. Taste is sour, malty and fruity with toasted malts, dark bread, dried raspberries, liquorice root, roasted oatmeal flakes, hay, brett, barnyard, caramel, dark grapes, sour cherries, dark plums, grapefruit juice, peppermint, moist soil, lemon balm and dry tobacco. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly tart, dry and medium bodied, finish is slightly sour, fruity and malty with dark bread, lemon juice, grape juice, wood, moist soil, hay, barnyard, liquorice fudge, prunes and dark grapes. Roasted saison is hard to grasp...

Bottle, 10/04/2012. Pours dark cola brown, huge rocky head with copious lacing clinging to the glass. Aroma musty with yeast and brett, with mildly tart dark fruitiness backed by dusty roasted malts and chocolate, oak and red wine character. Taste has lemony tartness, earthy backdrop of roast, coffee grounds. Smoothly carbonated palate. Pretty good, aroma especially, but not my favorite black saison or HF brew.

Pours unclear swampy brown with a big creamy brown nutmeg head. The aroma is light tart and sweet, like a Flemish brown, which spills into the flavor as well. The flavors bring awesome light sour tartness with some almost cherry fruitness, sour dark fruit flavors. Delicious and quenching!
