3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy and very dark golden yellow color with orange/banana colored hues and a one finger white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
The aroma is kind of bland with a decent spice and earthy funk presence. Subtle oak and earthy funky along with barnyard, grassy hops, straw, peppery spice and light fruit. Opens up a little as it warms but the nose isn’t too inviting.
Much more interesting than it smells with soft carbonation and a nice balance of oak barrel, musty, grassy funk, zesty spice, sweet citrus and light fruit. Dry oak/toothpick but it’s not overwhelming with hints of white pepper and ginger, citrus zest, apple and pear. Well balanced and easy to drink. Pretty complex and much better than anticipated.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Nose smells tart and woody with some citrus fruit. Fairly clear with minimal head. Taste is light in citrus and fairly flat in the malt flavor. Just kind of ok. Nothing great.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pale amber with a faint white ring. Somewhat dank wine cellar aroma with tannins, dry, tart, oak, yeast moderate body and carbonation, acidic with some vinegar, becomes thinner on the finish but enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
375 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 5/2013. Originally reviewed 9/23/2013.
Hazy deep orange, almost amber. Decent white head. A few surface islands.
Wine aroma. Strong malty aroma. A little bit acidic. Yeast aroma.
Very winey taste. Strong white wine. Malty again, with a bit of sweetness. Tartness builds slowly. Some caramel back there.
A little heavy. Malty and tangy. Medium carbonation.
Greater than the sum of its parts. Not my favorite Civil Disobedience, but damn good nonetheless.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color with a medium white head with minimal retention and light lacing. Aroma of funky yeast notes with light vinous notes and some tart notes. Taste is a mix of light acidity notes with some tart notes with funky yeast notes. Light wine barrel notes are also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nice level of complexity in this one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
21 mar 2015, bottle. Gold and hazy. For a saison this is rather tart on the nose. A bit sweet but tart throughout. Thin body and mildly fizzy. Really nice. Wood influence is more than just noticeable but not too strong. Sweet, tart but not too much so. This is a really good farmhouse/sour.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from trade with Leighton - thanks. Poured into a tulip at home, clear gold, with a small head. Aroma of pineapple, tart grape must (like Gruner Veltliner), tropical fruit. Light carbonation - would have liked just a touch more to lift it up. Lightly tart, light pale malt, citrus, thyme. Some woody, creamy oak present. Deft.
