Growler from the brewery. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy white head. Tons of rich citrus in the nose, orange, grapefruit, mango, melon. Medium to big sweet flavor, some lightly bready pale malts, hints of tangy lemon, more pithy orange and grapefruit. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Light sticky and pithy citrus fruits in the finish, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, orange. Delicious stuff. Rich and well balanced.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy amber color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium to heavy lemon citrus hop and resin aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy smooth bittersweet citrus flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of average to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Growler… Mostly clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose offers a crazy mélange of olfactory stimulation – citrus and tropical fruits, musk, must, earthy leather and funked-out armpit. Medium to full-bodied with tickling carbonation. Bitter, but not painfully so. Intense, fruity, musky hop flavor. Finishes bitter and tongue-numbingly dry. Growler courtesy of Maltzilla!

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a cloudy amber color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of citrus, fruity, pine, floral and all around nice hoppiness. Tastes of pineapples, citrus, pine, toast, and fruity.

Great DIPA, thanks for the half growler John. Aroma is pure tame citra hop. Cloudy head. Hop right there and not overwhelming, lemon and orange.

Tap at Capone’s for RBSG 2011. The pour is a cloudy, glowing, yellow with a whipped cream, bright white head. Nose is fresh kumquat and creamsickle with orange sherbet. Taste is full sweet melons with peach, kumquat, sweet grapefruit, Valencia orange, even getting a little meaty like durian and jackfruit. Palate is wildly soft, nearing that ridiculously fluffy softness in FFF Apocalypse Cow. Overall, it could be mistaken for pineapple milkshake. This is how DIPA should be. Just delete all those cheesy, syrupy, sticky, red and brown and orange DIPAs that have taken over the world and replace them with either Hill Farmstead Double Citra or FFF Apocalypse Cow. Then I might not hate DIPAs anymore.
