COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Earl (1911-1985) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Stout is crafted from American malted barley, Flaked Oats, English roasted malts, American hops, Organic Guatemalan Coffee, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. A silhouette of coffee and malt - an embodiment of complexity and drinkability, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl. 7.2% ALC/VOL 18º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

500 ml bottle brand new dated 12 - 2013. All kinds of spotty lace down the side the snifter. Nose is pure roasted coffee and chocolate malts. Flavor is chocolate and roasted malts to include Bitter coffee bean and oats in the body which gives it a much improved body. Slightly creamy texture and an oily mouthfeel. Extremely drinkable and you will like this if you enjoy coffee stouts. For me Im left wanting a bit more.

On tap at Prohibition Pig: aroma is perfect, lots of coffee and roasted goodness. Flavor is a lot of coffee, roasted malts, a bit earthy, and some hops. Full bodied, a bit sticky, leaves a slight sweet flavor. Awesome coffee stout.

750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized cola like beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, oatmeal sweetness, mild coffee notes, green earthy hops, smooth, medium body, great flavor.

Pour from a 750 ml growler gave a dark black hued brew with a great looking mocha head. Smells of roasted chocolate malt. Medium in body and smooth. Coffee flavors mix well with the malt character without alot sweetness. The Guatemalan coffee character is good but not my favorite coffee variety but OK. Overall a very good beer.

Near black, small cocao-colored head. Roasted coffee bean, bitter chocolate, toasted malt, a lot of smoke, oak and cedar wood, perhaps a hint of vanilla. A little too much carbonation, but smooth and creamy all the same. In between medium and full bodied, bitter finish. Alcohol is low and not very apparent. A bit too much smoke in my opinion; Earl reminds me of the smoked stouts and porters I had when exploring that style
