Earl (1911-1985) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Stout is crafted from American malted barley, Flaked Oats, English roasted malts, American hops, Organic Guatemalan Coffee, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. A silhouette of coffee and malt - an embodiment of complexity and drinkability, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Earl. 7.2% ALC/VOL 18º P Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, and Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, Columbus hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

New England Bucket List Trip #154. Growler from the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a large frothy dark brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, mild oats. The taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, mild nuts and dark fruit. Medium bodied, mild lingering roast, exceptional balance.

Draft. Dark cola with a thick mocha head. Aroma is oat, chocolate and subtle coffee. Coffee becomes more apparent in the taste but the balance is incredible. Perfect tension between sweet and toasty. Medium smooth and sticky mouthfeel. Outstanding.

This is stout heaven. Creamy chocolate and coffee perfection. Beautiful aroma and smooth taste. Vermont knows how to do it right. Best beer, coffee, and food imaginable. I’m in pure bliss.

Tap @ Hotel Vermont. Wow now this is what I’m talking about. I’m in stout heaven here with notes of coffee, chocolate, barley, and pure bliss. Slam dunk and wish there was a way I could high jack the keg to bring home.

Growler shared thanks to scotchzi! Pours an opaque black with fluffy tan head that leaves good lace. Aroma of deep roasted malts and coffee, hints of dark chocolate and smoke. Taste follows, nice and smooth, good balance of roast and smoke. Nothing crazy, but nicely done.

Bottle thanks to Aaron and Erik. Pours a pitch black with a fluffy, brown head. Aroma has coffee, cocoa, licorice and salmiak, hints of oatmeal and some slight roast. Taste is bitter roasty with lots of coffee, but also some fruity sweetness. Smooth and nice, and with a little hop presence as well. Low carb.
