From notes, served in a HF wine glass.
Clear, very dark brown color with a light, bubbly tan head. Excellent retention and thick lacing. Earthy and roast coffee aroma, with surprising amount of hops and some faint chocolate notes. Flavor is typical of an oatmeal stout, creamy and smooth, with a silky body, and a strong chocolate and malt body throughout. Minimal bitterness, but strong fresh coffee flavor throughout. Much more robust and enjoyable experience than the BA version of Earl.

750 ml bottle shared with the group. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized cola like beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, oatmeal sweetness, mild coffee notes, green earthy hops, smooth, medium body, great flavor.

Pour from a 750 ml growler gave a dark black hued brew with a great looking mocha head. Smells of roasted chocolate malt. Medium in body and smooth. Coffee flavors mix well with the malt character without alot sweetness. The Guatemalan coffee character is good but not my favorite coffee variety but OK. Overall a very good beer.

Near black, small cocao-colored head. Roasted coffee bean, bitter chocolate, toasted malt, a lot of smoke, oak and cedar wood, perhaps a hint of vanilla. A little too much carbonation, but smooth and creamy all the same. In between medium and full bodied, bitter finish. Alcohol is low and not very apparent.
A bit too much smoke in my opinion; Earl reminds me of the smoked stouts and porters I had when exploring that style

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2013 750 flip-top at home with friends. Thanks Adam!! Pour is pitch black with a creamy brown head and great lacing. Big chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roast, a touch of grass, some toffee, and wood in the aroma. Taste is super smooth and creamy, roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, big espresso, grass, and oak with a lightly roasted/bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation. Awesome stout, I could chug this stuff.

Thick black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of coffee, roast, dark chocolate, hints of toffee, nice earth, grain and spice notes, coffee ground notes with some vanilla. Taste is a mix of vanilla, coffee, roast, nice chocolate, baker’s chocolate, coffee bean, espresso, hints of earth, spice, finishing fairly sweet, bit nice and roasted and bitter. Nice.
