Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children.  In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.  13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Good brew, I expected a little more hop in the aroma dept. Still a great example of the AIPA style.

Pours hazy golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, floral, grass and hint of citrus. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long citrus and grassy finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

This was on tap at Whetstone Station Restaurant and Brewery. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy orange gold with a slim quarter finger’s white head. There wasn’t any lacing. The smell had a light floral and light pine. The taste was semi-sweet through the pine. There’s no aftertaste and it had a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body. Carbonation hits as an APA but loses its temper on lack of bitterness. Overall, its good, but nothing over the top. Maybe if I would have had it in its proper glassware, it would have been better. I don’t know, but I’d still try again.

Growler from brewery. Hazy orange gold with a creamy white head. Beautiful piney, citrusy, melon aroma. Light caramel with a punch of strong citrus and pine. Light carbonation on a light body made this dangerously easy to drink.
