COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children.  In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well.  It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped.  Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.  13.5ºP, 85 ibus, 5.2% abv. Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Tap. Pours cloudy amber with a medium off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is fairly light, with notes of citrusy grapefruit, mango, perhaps passionfruit. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet, light-plus bitter. Dry finish. Medium body, soft and creamy "HF" mouthfeel.

750ml growler muled by jercraigs & mabel - hurrah!! Hazy orange, huge fluffy lasting off-white head - a couple of floaties. Dry leafy/resin bitter aroma, some alcohol, citrus zest. Taste follows - dry, biscuit - did I say dry? - solid. Chewy, astringent, solid carbonation, longish finish - like dried wildflowers. Loved it.

Hazy orange tinged with gold, white lacing. Sweet pineapple, grapefruit, mango, peach, and citrus aroma. Very faint sweet and bitter taste. Crisp, light-bodied, but somewhat thin. A little bitterness in the finish and no alcohol presence.

This is an amazon beer. Great nose of citrus, pineapple and juicy peaches. The taste is amazing bitter but not so close that you would put into an ipa category. One of my favorites!

Tropical orange, white head, lots of lacing and champagne like carbonation. Really seems like an IPA because it’s got so much hop going on, but it’s very drinkable and, on second sip, more balanced than you first think with all the hops there. Amazing that you could get this much flavor in something that’s 5.2%

(3 avril 2013)

Growler from the brewery. Pours a full, shiny matte gold with frothy white head. Phenomenal aroma with everything you’d want in a pale ale: Grapefruit, perfume, lemon rind, with just a slight background of pine and yeast. Slight biscuit in flavor but mainly juicy lemon rind, perfume, and grapefruit. Slight, soft lingering pine and lemon rind finish. The qualities here are like having a grass fed locally raised beef burger after years of fatty Piggly Wiggly ground beef. Damn drinkable and subtly addicting.

On tap at Mad Taco in Waitsfield, VT. Pours a hazy, deep gold with a foamy white head that hangs around. Aroma is a warm hops over citrus. Flavor is high citrus backed up by several hops in succession but remains bright and effervescent. Slightly bitter and refreshing aftertaste. Overall this is a beer with character but is not overpowering. Very drinkable.

Growler. Thanks to AdamJackson. Ohh Shit. Hayy yellow with a white head and lacings. Fruit forest. Tropical paradise. Red grapefruit, lemon, pine and strawberries. Bitter, crisp, dry and smooth. Long bitter finish. Incredible.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber gold with a subsided white head.

Aroma: Tangerine, sativa dominate medical cannabis and toffee like malt.

Taste: Toffee, citris and piny hops, melon fruitiness. Finishes with earthy lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, probably a bigger mouthfeel than most APAs, attributed to the lack of filtration.

Overall: Very tasty, vibrant, fresh and more complex than my go to, every day drinking American Pale Ales.
